So what are you reading now?

I'm in the midst of reading the Hero Squared collections by Keith Giffen & J.M. DeMatteis, and also reading an ARC of Allen Barra's upcoming biography of Yogi Berra, entitled, simply, Yogi.

I'm currently reading book two of the Destiny series. I've always kept up with the DS9 relaunch, but until recently, I haven't kept up with the rest. But the all of those "Dead Janeway" threads got me curious, so (not wanting to miss anyting) I purchased a shitlaod of books. It's taken me a while to catch up, but pretty soon I'll be back on track.

I'm almost done with A Singular Destiny (Good work KRAD :techman:). I've also just started re-reading the DS9 books so I'm ready for The Soul Key and The Never Ending Sacrifice.

I am reading "A Singular Destiny" at the moment. I am not far yet but I can already say I am really enjoying myself. I hope Sonek Pran stays as interesting and likeable as he is at the moment. It is nice to meet so many of the KRAD creations and I am looking forward to find out more what these people have been doing.

But I can already see that this book has to share some time with my passion for the Bleach Manga book series. I finished all the English translations available so far but I got weak and have ordered the next books but in German. I just don`t want to wait for the English translations and will get those whenever they are released.

OmahaStar, what is the difference between "The Rising", and "Rising:Selected Scenes From The End Of The World"? Also, between "Conqueror Worms" and "Earthworm Gods:Selected Scenes"? I enjoyed both books, so if they're reissues with extra goodies, they may be interesting to pick up.

Despite the covers of both "Selected Scenes" books using the same background, they are not the same. The Rising is the book proper. The Rising: Selected Scenes are short stories taking place in the same world, some set before, some during, and some after the events of the novel. Same with Earthworm Gods ... Selected Scenes follows it up. They aren't reissues, they're all completely new.

You can pick up the Rising stories easily enough; I got it from Amazon for about 12 bucks, I think, new. The Earthworm Gods one, though, came out in a limited edition book and is dang near impossible to find for under 60 bucks. It's coming out as an ebook later this year.

Brian's publisher told him that the Earthworm stories were the ones that sold the least of all his books. The problem with that is, there are now people coming along (like me) and trying to read his stuff, and half of it is no longer available, or is prohibitively expensive.

What's worse about that is he is now tying together all of his stuff into one universe with his Labyrinth series. The basic gist, as he told it, is that all these worlds that are so vast and different are tied together in the same "mythos"and he's slowly unveiling the curtain to show it.

I just finished re-reading KRAD's The Art of the Impossible for the nth time:bolian: (I'd finished A Singular Destiny a while ago), while awaiting my eBay package with A Time to Sow thru A Time to Hate (some might recall I posted a thread about that a while ago, and have since been able to snag all four books / two doulogies for a bargain ).

I tried to read the old TOS novel The Pandora Principle, after recalling KRAD's recommendation of it in a Saavik thread not too long ago, but just could not get into it (the prose / writing was kinda weird)...

Last night I finished The Final Reflection by John Ford. This was my first time reading it, and I have to say, amazing novel. I find myself drawn to the Star Trek universe created by the early authors before the movies and post TOS TV series appeared. The Klingon culture portrayed in it is complex, different, and real.
I am going to have to reread this novel. I read it back when it first came out in 80s and was fascinated by it is junior high kid getting into novels. I remember as the Next Generation evolved thinking I liked this novel's version of Klingons and their society better.

I just finished both A Singular Destiny and Q&A, and i'm 4 chapters into Christopher's Ex Machina. I've also been reading TLE book 6, Catalyst of Sorrows, albeit very slowly. It's kind of dull :(...other better books keep stealing me away:p

Currently reading 'The Battle of Betazed' then i'm going onto the Titan series (i've only read the first one)

I'm working between two books right now:

Faction Paradox: The Book of the War edited by Lawrence Miles and An Insider's Guide to the UN by Linda Fasulo.

^ Me too, one of the few instances (across all of TNG both live-action and prose) where Deanna Troi didn't get on my nerves. She was in-fact quite good in this novel.

-The Ice Bowl: The Cold Truth About Football's Most Unforgettable Game by Ed Gruver.

As a Green Bay Packer fan I have to say I approve. :)

As a good Texan living near Dallas, I am reading it from the Cowboy angle. Unfortunately it didn't work out to well for us that day. Better days were definitely ahead for us the next decade.

You know right after I posted that I thought it would just be my luck if you were a Dallas fan. ;)
