I've started to re-read the Star Trek Voyager book "Caretaker" by LA Graf. It's basically the same story as the pilot episode but with some interesting details which we never saw in the TV episode.

Excellent book! As good as the TV episode. :techman:

I'm planning to re-read the season 1-3 Voyager books because they are great, most of them.

However, Star trek books aren't the only thing I read. My previous book which I finished on Sunday was a book called "Courier from Warsaw" a biography about a Polish resistance fighter in WWII.

I'm currently reading "Destiny: Lost Souls", and then I've got Philip K. Dick's "The Man in the High Castle" lined up.

I just started SHADOWS ON THE SUN, an old Western by Richard Matheson. And I have the new MONK novel and Mike Friedman's WOLF MAN novel put aside for an upcoming flight . . . .

I also want to read THE TEN CENT PLAGUE, a non-fiction book on the anti-comic book mania of the 1950's.

SCE No Surrender: Past Life.

next: Shards and Shadows which arrived today (after getting no mail on friday and saturday, goddamn snow)

I am currently reading:

-Star Trek Vanguard: Reap the Whirlwind by D. Mack
-The Ice Bowl: The Cold Truth About Football's Most Unforgettable Game by Ed Gruver.
-The Deacon I Want To Be by Johnny Hunt

I'm on A Singular Destiny right now. Before I got that I was working on Shards & Shadows, but I only made it as far as the Stargazer story before I got ahold of ASD. The last non-Trek book I read was The Judas Strain by James Rollins. I'm also working on the Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy series, and RA Salvatore's third Legend of Drizzt trilogy. Once I get through ASD and S&S I plan on going on a Trek-non Trek rotation.

You're lucky, I didn't get any post all week! Not that I think very highly of the post service around here, it's not delivered till the middle of the afternoon.

- Little Women, or Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy by Louisa May Alcott (will start tomorrow)
Good book. :techman:
I can't say I'm impressed so far. It's dreadfully overwritten ("I want a book. I like books," said Jo, who was a bookworm and therefore liked books.) and the children are so insipidly virtuous that every time I turn a page, I'm hoping one of them has died. Or gotten pregnant.

On the other hand, I finished Wounds, so tonight I'll be starting The War of the Worlds. I'm going to be doing a big research project on it this semester (tracking reprintings and adaptations since its original publication), so I figured I ought to reread it-- I probably haven't read it since the eighth grade!

Just finished SHADOW ON THE SUN. A strange but enjoyable book. It starts out as traditional western with all the trappings, then gradually evolves into an honest-to-god supernatural horror novel that just happens to be set in a frontier town in the Old West.

Now I have to figure out how to market the upcoming Tor edition! :)

Well in the past 6 weeks or less I've read...

Resistance, Death Before Dishonor, Greater than the Sum, Fearful Symmetry, the Destiny trilogy and just finished Shards and Shadows today.

As much as I love DS9, I just found it hard to get into FS in any sort of meaningful way. It felt like I was reading on a bumpy road and just found that while on so many levels it should have been fulfilling...it just fell a little flat for me.

Greater than the Sum was my favourite of all of them so far, with Destiny book II, I and III following close behind.

Now, I'm off to the SW-verse before getting Fearful Symmetry and then going back into Dresden/Sookie Stackhouse novels.

I'd be interested in seeing the results of that effort, assuming you're able (and willing) to share. TWOTW is one of my favorite books, and I have several editions of it (including a prized Armed Services Edition from WWII), as well as a few "sequels," redos, spin-offs, etc.

I will be more than willing to share (I'm never reluctant to talk about myself)-- and at some point, I'll probably solicit information here and on my blog, so anything you know/have will of be great use.

Just finishing the Crucible series, which has disappointed me.

Next up is the String Theory trilogy.

I'm anxiously awaiting Dragons of an Hourglass Mage, so I guess anything would pale in comparison.

Last night I finished The Final Reflection by John Ford. This was my first time reading it, and I have to say, amazing novel. I find myself drawn to the Star Trek universe created by the early authors before the movies and post TOS TV series appeared. The Klingon culture portrayed in it is complex, different, and real.

Before that I reread Strangers from the Sky, and before that I polished of A Singular Destiny, which is one of the finest Trek novels I've ever read, up there with Ex Machina. KRAD, you have outdone yourself!

Now I'm reading The Entropy Effect for the first time. Many people have told me how good it is, so I'll see what happens. In Non-Trek reading, I'm halfway through Life of Pi. Fascinating and funny book!
