Smallville Summer Hiatus Thread III (Spoilers)

Cougar? I'd be surprised if at the time she was even 30.

Lex was nearly a decade older than Clark? So he started the show in his mid to late 20s... She was probably younger than he was, it's just that in our minds we forget the startling difference in age between Clark and Lex. Younger brother my ass. Anyone with half a mind should have called social services and thrown that dirty old man in jail... Hey! if he'd bed Lana, waiting all of 4 minutes fo rher to get legal, then age wasn't the fence keeping him out of Clarks pants in the beginning.

Though in the flash back to both boys in the pick up truck after the meteor storm, Lex wasn't too much older than young Clark... oliver is the same age as lex? Little boy Oliver running around even as a ten year old with a bow... Just DARLING!

Gina is Tess...S7 writers stike F*d Up.

I agree with you on this Jet, Tess should've been brought into the show in S7 in the position that Gina was in (though not lusting after Lex, but certainly being the loyal protege). That would've made her full-time appearance and assuming the mantle of responsibility in S8 that much more believable.

But as we've all guessed, things weren't that thought out in advance. Plus, if memory serves, M&G were still onboard for S7; Tess WAS a creation of Souders & Peterson the following year.

Vertias damn near shut me down...that was the most hideous storyline ever created in the history of television or at least close to it. Yeah let's retcon what little we knew of the pre-Smallville history by introducing this giant conspiracy and secret society surrounding Clark and his arrival. Fans love conspiracies and secret societies...um some fans do (I happen to be one of them but only when written well and executed properly). Remember that I skipped most of season seven because it was complete and utter shite. I don't remember most of it. I was desperate in the weekly threads ranting away at wanting Miller and Gough to use their alternate series finale they had planned. It interests me that Brian and Kelly have brought up their predecessors ending and their plans to use some of it. I wonder if they saw the video of John Schieder's idea for the ending of the show and are going to use that too?

Yeah the problem with introducing Tess earlier is of course as was brought up she was a creation of Peterson and Sounders as a replacement for Michael. I wonder what Miles and Gough would have done had they remained on board for season eight with no Michael?

No it was going to be a series finale due to the writer's strike...but the strike got resolved while they were still in production and CW renewed them so they never got to use it.

^
I think Al & Miles would have went with that Lex goon Regan...He would have been put in that position Tess was put in.

It was just ridiculous. The whole thing about a clock with some critical component in zurich.

And as you said the secret society preparing for "The traveler"

I don't remember her at all still so she must not have made the impression on me that she has on you Jet. lol

Gina Holden played Patricia Swann...she is hot.

Gina ??? was played by Anna Galvin

Read back...

And bringing in Patrica Swann and killing her so quick was a waste.

Gina Holden is HOT!

She played Flash Gordon's girlfriend in Whitney's show a couple years back, and she was just adorable as a goth in Bloodline.

Lex's entry into verita made no sense.

Would you kill Mickey Mouse to Join the Mickey Mouse Club? Possibly. But would you kill Mickey and all the Mouseketeers?

I think there's a really bad case of syphilis making the rounds and driving everyone bonkers in Smallville.

I wonder if the Veritas storyline is actually why Michael bailed on the series and the thing about the baldcap and not wanting to shave his head is just a public front lol. I do remember Patricia Swan and remember the actress from Flash Gordon (I watched two episodes of that show because it had George Venterii from Life With Derek as Ming).

S7 gave us Kara, Bizarro, more Brainiac, some Kryptonian stuff as well(Lara, Zor El) & the fall of Lionel Luthor...the Veritas story line was a blow not to mention the writers strike...S7 would have been awesome if it wasn't for the strike...I still don't think it was as bad as some of you make it out to be. JMHO.

[edit] S8 was worse than S7 for me.

See this is one of the fundamental problems I have with Smallville overall...there are small sections of each season that are outstanding television at least if you're a Superman fan and understand the mythology. The rest of it borderlines on sheer and utter shite. It's so frustrating. I understand you need filler...can't have episode of episode of greatness when you're doing 22 episodes (one of the reasons I love HBO and BBC shows is the length gives you the ability to write quality episodes) but at least have decent filler episodes. The filler episodes on Smallville are almost unwatchable in most cases, which is why I skip a third of the season.

I know it seems like I hate the series...I really don't...Smallville has been among my favorite shows since I first started watching it on a regular basis during season three, it's just soooooo frustrating sometimes with it's inconsistent writing and bizarre character develop it drives one crazy which is why I have a love/hate relationship. It's funny you guys all knew I would be returning to the show. One of my best friends who watches the show with me but doesn't read comics said the same thing after my rant during the finale last season lol.

Believe me, I feel you on loving it when it is good and hating it when it is bad...this is what worries me about S10...I like some of what I am hearing about the few first eps but then Brian & Kelly say some asinine crap and I am like :wtf:

^ Yep. I should mention too that watching those early seasons of Smallville increased my love of Superman and reminded me why I loved him in the first place.
