Spoilers Skeleton Crew [Spoiler Discussion]

B-Wing beam weapons! *happy dance*
:)

I very much enjoyed it, even if it did seem a bit short. I'd be happy regardless of whether it gets another season or not. But I am still curious about the "Great Work". They never explained what it was or who started it, but they did infer that it was an old project, so maybe not connected to Palpatine. Would be interesting to follow up on that somewhere.

The Great Work was making the money.

At Atten being a place in the New Republic could lead to it becoming a target for Thrawn and the Imperial Warlords to secure fund (buy off worlds). The kids' story may be over until they are older (ready to join the New Republic), but At Atten being in other stories set in this time period going forwards would be realistic. It is also a world that likely will need a Republic defense group to protect it now that the Barrier is out of commission.

I've read how some fans who are familiar with the Star Wars galactic star charts have determined that At-Attin is dangerously close to Dathomir, thus making it a potential target for Thrawn. As for the kids, it is my head canon that Wim flew a Starfighter at the Battle of Exogol.

Quelli Sector? Hmm. I would have thought the planet would be in the Mid-Rim. Mostly due to a line about the Pirate Nation in the Mid-Rim. On the other hand, that is not far from the bulge where the Inner Rim nearly presses up to the Outer Rim (near the planet Wayland). Not all that far from Mandalore either.

I don't know how old you are (or how relevant that is) but this series was basically Star Wars:Goonies.

Maybe Goonies had more at stake because the kids parents needed monet or they would lose their home, so the Goonies adventure saved the home.

My point, though, was this series felt like every kid adventure I saw during the 80s and into the 90s. Explorers, Goonies, ET. It was an Indiana Jones Raiders thrill adventure (and we know Raiders never went anywhere as the Ark of the Covenant ultimately remained hidden).

This was just a fun romp through the Star Wars Universe. This was me and my friends (as an OG Star Wars fan) playing Star Wars at recess. This was us getting our figures out and making our own stories.

Did it fill in any gaps in the Fall of the Republic, Galactic Civil War, or the Rise and Fall of the First Order? No. Did it need to?

I’m 43, so goonies is relevant. I didn’t dislike this series, just felt like it didn’t really do anything and nothing in particular was added to the universe. It was fine, but never felt like it went anywhere. Also felt like it was in the current trend of ‘mystery box’ shows that try to save stuff for the end and a big reveal, but fail to make the payoff worth it. Was just kinda meh. My kids enjoyed it, but maybe just wasn’t for me.

So we know there were other vaults ("one of one thousand one hundred and thirty nine"), does that mean there were other mints or cities? There weren't really any indications either way. Seems like a big planet just for one smallish city. Then again, Star Wars in general seems to have an issue with one planet > one biome > one city, especially in the streaming shows.

A show for kids? Ostensibly I guess so but all I know is this 54 year old kid at heart absolutely ruddy loved it.

A lovely end to a really fun show . Exceptionally well cast, the kids were great and Law was excellent and I too am glad he wasn't a pirate with a heart of gold.

When Neel came off the hover bike I did in fact should "Neel!" to an empty room, that's how invested I was.

It's great to see a show set in the SW universe that didn't feel the need to link in with every other bloody thing in the SW universe, in fact take away the X-Wings (and associated familiar ships) and references to Jedi, and frankly this didn't need to be SW at all. And that's one of the things that made it so enjoyable.

My only niggle is that I too would have liked a bit of an epilogue. Minor complaint though, all in all for me this sits alongside Andor and Mando (certainly the first two seasons) as the best SW shows.

But this planet has been added to the universe. Plus we might see some of these characters again even if we don't get a season 2.

Even more that Luke & Leia, I was really shocked that Carson Teva wasn't one of the X-Wing pilots who showed up at the end. It would have been the perfect way to connect it back to wider galaxy, but not as distracting as a A-lister like Luke or Leia or Ahsoka would have been.
Personally, I'm glad they didn't include Carson. It would reek too much of "small galaxy" syndrome to me.

Let me put it this way: my generation embraced the original SW movie, somehow, despite the fact that it had a total of zero kid characters.

We weren't like "there is no one in this I can relate to!"
True.

But if you are my age, your generation also embraced the movies I cited above - Goonies, Explorers, Flight of the Navigator, ET, Neverending Story, Peter Pan, Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, etc...

In literature we have Little House series, Narnia series. Today has Harry Potter universe.

We didn't need kid characters to relate to the movie, but they weren't a deal breaker, either.

They talk about Skeleton Crew having low ratings, but what does that even mean on streaming? What does that mean for the streaming plan with commercials vs. the streaming plan without commercials? As acclaimed as Andor is, Disney did not get $600 million in new subs for it to justify the budget.

Again, this is all fan translations of what's been seen on screen and their assumptions made thereof. None of it is confirmed or canonical and the entire article is based on the assumption that these fan translations are correct, and they say so themselves in the article.

ETA: The At Attin coordinates are also apparently very close to Borgo Prime, which lends credence to the theory.

Well, they are managing to keep at least one subscription for all this remarkable Star Wars content.

Another thing I want to applaud this show for is making the New Republic actually competent for a change. Every single bit of new SW media, from The Force Awakens to the Favreau/Filoni-verse, makes the New Republic out to be ineffectual chumps. Which retroactively ruins the OT and the entire point of Star Wars itself.

Nice to see the Republic standing up and actually helping out instead of being bureaucratic wuss bags.

But they still dismissed General Leia's warnings on the build up of "The First Order" & "Star Killer base" along with it's actions.

That literally doomed countless planets in the Hosnian Prime System where the New Republic's Capital was based on.

Billions of lives were lost because they didn't listen to General Leia.
