I believe this is the first time either of them has gone in to detail the original intention with the finale. I never hated it but understand why many did. It’s worth watching the interview, I suspect more will be revealed in the rest of Rick’s interview and Brannon will have his details and perspective.

Bottom line - they had 4 weeks notice to write the final episode. They had thought they would have 3 more seasons to show the building of the Federation. Using the holodec was a storytelling device to look back on the founding of the Federation from the future. From a historical perspective. Without the time to cover what happened in those missing 3 seasons.

Benjamin Archer? No wonder Sisko hasn’t come back yet. A Tuvix style incident with Archer must have occurred. /s ;)

In all seriousness, now that I understand Berman's logic behind TATV - and I'm sure Berman realizes that a time jump would have to happen regardless if ENT reached 7 seasons or not - I wonder how far along they were in editing and producing the Terra Prime arc when the show was announced cancelled? Since surely it would not have taken too much to make it take place in January 2156 instead of 2155 – a year after Archer and crew helps to build some starbases - and then have Paxton destroy Starfleet Command so that the Coalition falls apart, and the arc ends with an approaching Romulan armada opining fire on drydock and Earth to show the start of the Romulan War. Allowing TATV the justification to skip ahead a few years (and the Romulan war itself), and put the speech Archer said in “Terra Prime” in the finale instead at the Federation founding ceremony. So all the important stories are told.

With 8 weeks to go, its weird no one thought that Riker & Troi should be in the DS9/FC uniforms for a post VOY assignment to help encompass the idea of a franchise finale. Or to promote the crew/have some of them transferred to Columbia or a different NX class ship/Daedalus class ship by that point.

In any case, its all water under the bridge now.

The new Shuttlepod show they interviewed Brannon Braga it was nice to see him talking about Enterprise and discussing Manny Cotto coming in to write scripts in seasons 3& 4. And working on the Orville too.

I found both of Brannon Braga’s episodes very interesting. Did not cover the exact same topics as Rick Berman. Or if it was same topics different details. So mostly all new info.

Honestly I wonder what type of answers fans expect when asking actors will they return to a previous role. From many years of observation - most actors are reluctant to give firm answers. For the simple reason - They do not make the decisions. It’s studios, networks. It gives a sense of desperation that they are waiting for work that they have no control of at all.

This whole time Connor and Dominic have been open and honest. They would like to do it again if ever offered but not to hold our breaths for it.

So I was just as surprised as Dominic that Brannon was so quick to answer that ENT could come back. That all the cast is still young. Obviously he is currently not at CBS/Paramount. But his enthusiasm was very encouraging. He might be first guest to ask to return to the Shuttlepod Show. Theoretically with Paramount Plus doing multiple Star Trek series at the same time, there has never been a stronger probability of ENT returning in someone way... eventually.

He said something about the finale I have felt for many years. What if it had been aired earlier? I think it would have been better received. Remember the airing of the last 3 episodes was kind of odd. May 6th - Demons aired. Than the following week May 13th - Terra Prime and These Are the Voyages were aired together on one night. Two episodes with no strong story connections aired together to give appearance of a 2 hour finale. Which it was not at all.

Demons and Terra Prime should have been edited into a 2 hour finale. These Are the Voyages aired as a bonus episode or Coda. Story wise it’s already looking at the 22nd Century from a distant future perspective. So it airing out of sequence would have worked.

I got the same impression about Brannon talking about making an Enterprise show too I thought it was reallly interesting. I like the Orville and enjoy that show too.I agree with you Dick there's been rumors for a few months about bringing Enterpeixs back some how for a miniseries or one of the Characters. like Archer back or Trip somehow.

Dominic Keating's "Life before Enterprise" has a third part.

This was reallly interesting to hear Dominic talking about making a Movie with Tim Allen and the other stories about his acting jobs.

Anyone support the Patreon for this show? I am tempted to but curious how much longer these extended episodes are. Anyone know?

That is a big reason a I am skeptical about signing up for the Patreon. I do not even pay for streaming services unless I am currently watching something.

Eh, they both get handsome fees at conventions and still take regular acting work. I have enjoyed a few of the Shuttlepod shows but I see no need to fill the pockets of people who are richer than me with what little I have.

Yeah: I might be slightly more inclined to give if I wasn't asked for money every damn time I listen to a podcast and every other time I watch a Youtube video. Internet entertainers are basically buskers or panhandlers at this point.

I am in agreement. Unless there was extra value to exclusive content I feel no need to pay. There will be enough fans who join to keep it going.

I suspect this was not even Connor and Dominic’s idea to create a Patreon. That just seems to be the standard for most Podcasts now. Even obscure ones with no one famous.

I think it’s best they only create episodes when they get good guests. I see podcasts that only post a few episodes a year.

Connor is at this weekends London comic con he mentioned he wanted to do interviews with actors while at the different conventions and later use them for the shuttlepodcast. He and Dominic will be apppearing at the Star trek convention in Las Vegas in a few weeks

In 3 weeks Connor and Dominic will be in Las Vegas hopefully they'll get some great interviews to have on their show later this fall to show on Youtube.
