And I remember some weird-ass Vegas story on SGA--didn’t like it--but didn’t remember Atlantis crashing.

The Vegas episode was actually the second-last episode which took place in an alternate reality where Sheppard was a detective tracking a serial killer who turned out to be a Wraith disguised as a human.

The finale was titled Enemy at the Gate, and was the episode I covered in my previous post.

Finally got around to watching this one. Meh... I gave it a seven.
Clever use of the stones, but seriously not even a mention of Jonas? Mallozzi mentioned on his blog that a note was given to Remi Abuwhatever, who wrote the story to at least mention him, but nothing ever happened.
The whole SG1 teams 3 and 4... Just horrible that nobody caught that. It would have been so easy to edit that out.

The Rush story was boring, I don't know why they felt they needed a B story here. Get rid of that, and expand the A story with maybe Major Davis and Zalenka.

Jesus! If people nitpicked TNG like this, it wouldn't have gotten past season 2 either.

I mean, this ep of SGU wasn't that bad. I was entertained, and that's the whole point. I've got to wonder if my tolerance comes from the fact that I vividly remember a time when there wasn't ANY new space-based programming on at all. Sci-Fi fans are getting to be as bad as network TV watchers of sitcoms. Soon, new Sci-Fi shows will be coming and going in 3 weeks. If we hadn't stuck with TNG or DS9, we wouldn't have gotten The Best of Both Worlds or The Dominion War.
Sure, SGU took a bit long to get going, but the fan base is turning into Short Attention Span Theatre. It's all about "impress us quick, or we'll give up on you" and "give us EXACTLY the characters we want or we won't watch". Given the climate of this board, WHO could possibly develop a new show now that anyone would be happy with?

SG-1 went downhill over time. SGA went downhill over time(heck its first season was arguably its strongest).

And despite hopes that SGU would improve dramatically, it has at best only marginally improved. The core story elements and premise still drag it down too much, and the Stargate writers are just too tired and creatively exhausted to really overcome those problems. Plus they are the wrong fit for telling dark dramatic stories.

I'll be sad when the show ends its run, but it was never really going to be a great show unless it was retooled dramatically, which the producers have seemed unwilling to even consider.

I can't say I agree with that. For me SG-1's best was season 7 and Atlantis' best was season 4.

I can't say I agree with that. For me SG-1's best was season 7 and Atlantis' best was season 4.

Season seven of SG-1 was certainly strong, with Lost City being some of the best stuff they ever did. But RDA was already starting to have a noticeable lack of interest in portraying Jack, which took the season down a few notches for me. Personally I think the show peaked around season four or five, but it was also quite strong during its first two seasons. After season seven I think most fans would agree it went downhill somewhat, Mitchell was alright, but no Jack.

As to SGA, I would argue that season one was its best. It just felt fresher and more interesting to me than its later seasons. And the Siege two part season finale is in my opinion the two best hours of Atlantis bar none.

All of those arguments are clearly subjective.

But I think we can all agree that the two Stargate shows prior to SGU started strong, and by their second seasons certainly had hit their strides.

I can't say I agree with that. For me SG-1's best was season 7 and Atlantis' best was season 4.

For me most of the mid-late seasons were pretty close, but season 7 had Lost City, which to this day is a high point of the Stargate franchise, so they definitely didn't go downhill. Season 8 was a big drop for me, but seasons 9 and 10 redeemed them mostly.
And SGA was so solid that I couldn't pick one season over another. If the later seasons were weaker, it definitely wasn't by enough to be considered downhill.
And SGU has only gotten better. Unfortunately it just took too long to find its feet, and hasn't been a big enough rise. But how many scifi shows are at their best in S1 or 2? Even some of the best ones started off weak. I can barely even watch early TNG any more.
I wish SGU had been given more time to develop into something rivaling SG-1 and SGA, but unfortunately it did deserve to be canceled at this point, as much as I hate to say that as a fan of the show. But given more time, it would only have gotten better.

Although if I'm honest I'd have voted for more of Rush's wife. Perhaps the actress wasnt available so they went for plan B.

I just got to watch this today after beinbg broadcast just yesterday and the thing I noticed, other than the obvious lack of reference to Atlantis, was the fact that they didn't show where Telford, Woolsey, Rodney and the SG Teams came through the gate from, if the Gate had been moved from Cheyene and moved to Area 51 or where ever?

Are the producers leaving this out for a reasn?

The reason is probably that the sets for the SGC gateroom and the Atlantis gateroom are no longer up. They're both packed away, likely never to be seen again.
