This show has been improving but......this whole LA story has resulted in a dip of quality, IMO.

Finales are supposed to be exciting and have WTF!?! and OhMyGod! moments, moments which have you begging to see what happens next season. We've had none of these moments. Its been too predictable and at times, too slow.

Part 2 was better than Part 1, but not by much.

With "We" you mean "I", don't you?

I guess so, but the rest of my point stands.

Can't think of many Stargate finales which have been this boring. Even SG-1's Moebius had a bit of life in it.

5/10. very meh....

I know that they were trying to make the finale exciting by putting almost everyone's life at risk, but I just don't care enough about the characters for that to work.

I liked it. I was on the edge of my seat throughout most of the episode. I am looking forward to next season.

I cannot understand the dislikes here.

The show, in my opinion, has been fantastic. I was dead-set against it in the beginning, fearing either a failure to carry out the concept or a slip back to SG-1 style humour that had grown wearisome. I loved SG-1 until the last few seasons, and I didn't particularly like Atlantis after season 1.

Universe has been fantastic. The characters have been developed well (rather equally, in fact). I like the fact that Rush and Young aren't necessarily centre stage next week. I'm massively impressed by TJ's development. Greer is fascinating, Young is flawed, even Camille has grown stronger in Season 1.5.

The show is stylistically wonderful. It doesn't really on shaky camera like BSG to be 'edgy'. Instead, the use of slightly abstract camera angles is, imo, much more admirable.

The only thing I've disliked about the season (apart from one week episode I don't recall the name of) has been the reappearance of the Lucian Alliance. They were never strong villians, and now Keeva has gone, there's very little of interest left there.

But as a whole, the show has taken me by complete surprise. I've been entertained every week, and in the last five minutes I felt genuine irritation that I wasn't going to have a weekly fix every seven days.

I genuinely don't comprehend the slating the show has received from some people on here. The writing is not what I'd call overly formulaic. Nothing screams out as obvious the way an Atlantis or an ST:VOY plot did. The scripts have - while varying in quality - remained remarkably consistent week to week, especially for a Stargate show.

I do like that they make Young a flawed idiot intentionally. Watching Young being lectured by O'Neill saved the finale for me, because it showed that his stupid mistake was indeed intended by the writers to be a stupid mistake.

Re: SG-U

what a slut

Not a slut, just the the fact that while woman may say personality is important, 90% of the time they will choose the "hot guy".

Oh, and I've cut Camille Wray a lot of slack over this season...this episode has finally convinced me that she is a complete moron.

She was ready to surrender before any of that s--t even went down. People always go on about Chloe being useless, but she has contributed more than Wray ever has.

Wray is your stereotypical liberal civilian. She's very intelligent but she acts according to inaccurate assumptions about how the world works. She goes about things under the assumption that other have similar sensibilities to her own.

Say what you will about Wray, But I think she had the right idea. A peace treaty would have been preferable to a bloodbath.

I don't know. The way its playing out with the wounded soldier asking TJ how she feels about caring for a wounded enemy surrendering to the Lucian Allience seems nearly like surrendering to the Japanese.

That's why you're having trouble understanding the complaints. While you've been dreading a slip back to SG-1 style humour, I've been praying for it. The few minutes that O'Neill was on the Destiny was quite possibly the most fun I've had with SG:U all season.

I am for the most part enjoying SG:U, but I get bored with shows that take themselves too seriously. I need a little camp or fourth-wall breaking to really enjoy something.

The cliffhangers were good but will be resolved in a totally predictable fashion.

The plan to reroute control of the ship was smart. Too bad everything that led up to it was dumb, dumb, dumb. It's a wonder these people have survived so long, being so stupid.

Love the shot with TJ's bloody gut. Guess that's how they're writing the baby out this show. If only it had been a deliberate act of cruelty by Kiva or something, they could've shown some balls. But no, it had to be the result of random violence. Lame.

It's a shame, the second half of this season was shaping up really nicely, and then we get this LA arc out of left field and it has utterly failed to deliver on, well, anything. They're still fourth-rate bad guys and as one-dimensional as it gets. Yawn.

The less said about the Eli/Chloe business, the better. Sigh.

Pretty good episode, I already want to see more! I can see the cliffhangers being resolved pretty easily and quickly, but I was not expecting TJ... and that guy, I wonder about him, maybe he's the typical "perhaps I am wrong for being a bad guy" type, I dunno.

I've never really watched Stargate before this show, an episode here and there of SG-1, and a couple episodes (or well, several...) of Stargate Atlantis, but I think I can agree on the Lucian Alliance, they seem pretty lame. Why would they even want that ship, or assume they can take control?

I like this much better then the plotting against each other and mutiny plot though, but I still don't like Wray.

I really liked this season up until this stupid Lucian Alliance arc. Rhona Mitre was great as Kiva but on the whole the Lucian Alliance is boring. Just like this finale. A good finale (if it's a cliffhanger one) leaves you feeling like everything will change. This finale did not do that at all.

A real step back.

Young continues to make stupid decisions. Telford's plan had way too many holes, and Young was an idiot for following along.

oh gosh, yeah, don't even bother with Doctor Who on BBC America, I tried watching a few of the new series eps and they CUT THEM DOWN SO MUCH, my gosh, they chop the living daylights out of them, to reduce their time format, cutting out material, it was really jarring watching them.

I don't think BBC America cuts the first airing of each episode. They just cut future airings of each episode, so you're fine if you catch the first airing (or watch the full thing on ON-Demand).

I agree with the comments about the cliffhangers here. They're the usual 'Leaving Hawkeye His Fingernails' type of cliffhanger. They've left obvious windows of opportunity for everyone but TJ.

I do like that they make Young a flawed idiot intentionally. Watching Young being lectured by O'Neill saved the finale for me, because it showed that his stupid mistake was indeed intended by the writers to be a stupid mistake.

I liked how at the end when they were herded into that room, the camera kind of panned over the scene and Young had this expression that basically said, "I was an idiot and now I'm going to die".

SG1 would've been cracking jokes at this point

SG-1 would have blown up the entire Lucian Alliance fleet with an exploding sun and been back at base eating their fruit loops at that point.

You know, I could've tolerated all this Lucian Alliance BS if they were just being used as pawns for some better villain like Baal (who is the only one that can come back without it being a "What the fuck" moment), because then at least there would be a reason for them to pull all this crap over an outdated, piece of crap spaceship. But as it is now, this entire Lucian Alliance thing feels so fucking petty that it's ridiculous. Add in the fact that I don't give a shit about most of the characters and this little arc has less going for it than the mini-arc with Rush on the Chair and Lost.

I think nBSG has spoiled me in the cliffhanger department. After that show, where you really didn't know what would happen next, if someone would die, what not, other shows cliffhangers just don't leave me in suspense.

That said, good episode, good season, good show. I'll be watching when it returns in the fall. I like the tension between the people aboard Destiny, I like that it's not a squeaky-clean "we all get along" take on things. Not keen on this new (old?) bad-guy. As someone who never watched SG before, I just don't care about them. The mysterious blue aliens are a much better baddy, IMHO. Something new, unknown, truly alien.

Yeah but Teal'c would have been shot 'dead' and captured, and resurrected to serve Kiva as her First Prime. ;)

Given how he glanced up at the lights just before they went out, I think he was concentrating intensely on counting the seconds, before he'd have the opportunity to execute his daring escape plan.

(Namely, kick the shit out of the thugs when the lights go out. I said "daring," not "intricate.")
