Wow, exactly what I was going to type. The retro futurism was pretty cool and well done. :techman:
Loved that aspect of the film (just watched with my kids). Makes me wish for a 1938 style Superman film (even if only a one off Elseworlds version) and a period setting for the next Bond films (in the novel timeframe).

First of all, I would have liked to have seen something more with the Mole Man at the start of the movie. That opening sequence felt rushed. They didn't have to cut all those early scenes.
Matt Shakman said he deliberately cut out those scenes because he felt like the pacing was off and I can see his point. Would have I liked to seen more of Mole Man, Red Ghost, and the rest? Of course, but I trust the director if he says the film didn't flow right.

I'm still hoping we'll see some kind of Marvel One-Shot of at least the Red Ghost sequence just so we can see John Malkovich in action. At least we got to see more of Mole Man throughout the film.

Even without those scenes, we don't get into the Silver Surfer and Galactus story until 20 minutes into the movie.
My problem is that the pacing of the final product is off. What happens in those twenty minutes prior to the appearance of the Surfer? Not much.

I have to agree about the movie's pacing. I also found it very off. I also found the main characters rather dull. This movie needed a director who could have lit a fire under it.

Er, world establishment and character establishment?

And this could have been done in a different way. It could have included the originally filmed footage of the Mole Man and others. Pointing out that the team knew where they all were cried out that those "villains" could have come back in the final act to help the FF save the world from Galactus. Instead we got the MCU equivalent of Attack of the Clones.
