I honestly kinda hope it's bad, at least in a special way because I have a thing for stuff that's considered "so bad that it's good". I mean I name TNG's first two seasons as my favorites. ;)

I thought they did okay as well. It also does make more sense that since the Federation wasn't created yet they would be more of a public agency at that time.

S31 is as much Trek as TOS, TNG, or anything else.
Well, so is "women can't command starships," but people want that one to disappear too.

Section 31 was dumb, imitative tinfoil-hat melodrama at its inception, appealing to underthought cynicism rather than grounded in "realism," and has just gotten dumber and dumber since.

As I've said before, I really hope the movie is good.
But I really think it's gonna be dogshit.

Honestly, the only reason I’m interested is because it takes place during the Lost Era. But I’m also worried that the Lost Era as depicted in this movie will suspiciously look like a cross between DSC and PIC, and have nothing distinguishing it from those eras other than a phaser.

What's the worst that happens if it is bad?

I don't get it. Oh no, it's bad. The people who didn't want it will get what they want and I'll get less Trek content.

Oh no...

And I don't mean this flippantly. I'm genuinely confused by those who don't want this movie yet seem to worry over its performance. If it performs poorly, we won't get any more Trek movies, which is exactly the amount we're getting now.

So what changes exactly?

Seriously now, what is wrong with you guys? Do you feel cozy in your little thought-jail bubble. Why the fuck aren’t you angry about the shitty degradation of our favorite franchise?
Hey, this TOS fan survived years and years of Berman and Braga garbage

(Seasons 1, 2, 6, & 7 of TNG, DS9 S1, plus all 7 seasons of VOY come to mind - utter garbage IMO but others milage may very. )

Star Trek is at its base escapist entertainment, it's not Shakespeare.

If it doesn't get enough views (Hate or otherwise), then we get no more Trek for God knows how long.

I'm always willing to take the not-so-good with the great, just so we keep getting, something.
I already lived through the dry periods, it wasn't really fun.

I don't mind dry periods.

Some days I more want no content than new for people overreact to.

The way I see it, if a Batman & Robin does really well, we get nothing but neon and bat-nipples for the next few years. If it fails hard we eventually get The Dark Knight and The Batman.

Still rooting for that already failed project? Did you notice how very little advertising is shown for a „movie“ with a best actress academy award winner in it? They already gave up on that project, even before it got first released.

So many people around here willingly lapping up whatever they are given, using mental gymnastics in order to justify the constant lowering of their expectations. All you do is meme and point at „haters“.

You know what you are? You are nothing more than a bunch of shitty consumers…
How DARE any of us enjoy something you don't!!!!!

To me the Lost Era should look lots like the TOS movies with some early TNG stuff, like the early holodecks. The Romulans should mostly be absent and a focus on the newly created alliance between the Federation and Klingons. Also a kind post Cold War tone from that alliance and maybe the early stages of Federation life starting to fill like a utopia and massive expansion in exploration with more and more ships being created and more and more of them having creature comforts that make them less like submarines.

Riker had never seen a holodeck before the Enterprise D so I hope they avoid showing one in Section 31.

Yeah I know Disco portrayed Section 31 as cool Men in Black with secret future technology, but I still don't want to see them.
