Well, she's not even in Season 3, which is what this thread is about. Trekkies are notorious for not letting things go.
Introduced Picard to my GF who is not a big Trekkie and it was her interpretation as well But yes I/some of us digress. Won't comment more on this matter in this thread
some speculation since the trailer Spoiler Is Mariarty the reason they go back to the Enterprise-D? to check on that little cube? Has Worf joined the Romulan ninja nuns?
I liked the Moriarty stories in TNG and it was certainly a loose end, but as the basis for this season ? I'm disappointed.
The episode ends with Picard asking Barclay to keep it safe. Nothing about airlocks. Not sure where you got that idea from. Nothing says it's the basis of this season. The basis seems to be set around the alien woman. I'm guessing she's the one who found Lore and Moriarty.
Yo! Posted this elsewhere but I I'm revising my thoughts: Season ends setting up a spin-off with Worf Captain if the Ent F and Seven is his #1. Whoever Vadic is, she attempts to throw everything she can at Picard - Lore, kidnapping Beverly, finding Picard's son, awakening Moriarty. My hunch is that it backfires on her. Moriarty and Lore help the Titan-A crew deal with Vadic. Mo and Lore both get redemption arcs.
Terry Matalas implied that explaining her backstory really jumped out in the room, leading to them cutting a Naomi Wildman return plot to make space
Picard has a son with Beverly or some other past romantic interest? I hadn’t paid a lot of attention to the speculation that came out before. The actor they were speculating about is in his 30s, which would make him a little old. Beverly Crusher would have been in her 50s at the end of the last movie and some sort of medical intervention would be needed. He probably wouldn’t have been the oops baby of two aging parents, even if her system was “regenerated” by some alien planet and I can’t see her lying about the existence of a child, even if she was really worried by his involvement with the Romulans. But the mother could just as easily be some woman he had an encounter with during the series and maybe Beverly knows something about it. Or maybe this actor is just one of the villain’s henchmen or someone on the Titan who dies during the attack and there is no Picard son.
What doesn’t add up for me - aside from the age indeed, the casting sheet said the son is in his early 20s, and Speelers is in his early 30s I think - is that Speelers is English. Why would JLP’s son have an English accent if he was raised by Crusher, who has an American accent? (Unless they have Speelers do an American accent ofc. The casting sheet for the character of JLP’s son said “either American or British actor” however, so this didn’t seem to be anything they found too important?) I think it’s equally possible that Speelers is playing a young JLP in flashbacks, especially since Matalas has said that season 3 will have “flashbacks from Picard’s perspective”. Doesn’t mean there won’t be a son tho ofc. I think that one is kinda certain by now because Matalas said that there’s gonna be a “bombshell” that drops regarding JLP and that’s based on an idea Sir Patrick came up with. Yeah well sorry, Terry, that “bombshell” info leaked many, many months ago (years, even, IIRC), way before any Trek website ever picked it up.
What if Vadic is Tasha Yar’s MOM? That colony world was visited by Picard on the Stargazer (not sure if that’s canon but was originally intended to be the link between Picard and Yar), then the 1701-D returns and they basically make Ishara a living weapon (which you know just had to lead to a good end on that planet). Tasha had a good speech on drugs to Wesley in “Symbiosis” - maybe Tasha and Ishara lied when they said their parents were dead? Or maybe they thought their parents were dead when mom was just an addict that had left. If she got off the planet somehow, she would easily have a beef with Picard and the Federation since she was from a Federation colony that basically imploded. Add a celebration of exploration or the Federation into the mix and now she’s even madder than when she learned about her two girls. Perhaps she was able to recruit a crew and get a Romulan ship specifically for revenge. Vadic has no points on her ears after all. Moriarity seems to be on LaSirena, so perhaps Raffi finds him somehow while exploring the underworld (which they said we’d see in more depth than ever this season). Could be he’s secondary to the big revenge story. I can’t see Lore being a countermeasure to Moriarity either since they’d first have to convince him to be their ally (talk about a hard sell after the Federation banned synths for a long time). I wonder if Lore found himself on the black market after the synth ban, however and ties into the underworld as well.
Yes but Shinzon was a clone and not Jean-Luc’s son - maybe in the Trek universe clones automatically have the same accent as the guy they’re cloned from I would HOPE that they at least TRY to make this accent thing make sense. I know they’re usually not very good with this entire accent and languages subject but ugh, please. Please. Make it make SOME sense. For a change.
