Scrubs: Season Nine

Advance listings indicate that in the month of January, ABC will double-run Scrubs and Better Off Ted (Scrubs at 8 p.m. Eastern / 7 p.m. Central and 9 p.m. Eastern / 8 p.m. Central, with Ted at the 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. slots), which will conclude both series' 13-episode orders.

ABC's burning off the episodes, which basically means ... that's that. Show's over.

I don't think they're burning off episodes. Lost is taking that time slot in February, so there's probably no room on the schedule when it and other shows come back.

Yeah, Lost takes over the 9 p.m. / 8 Central slot, but ABC has yet to announce programming to precede it. There's open space there (although those two comedies are questionable lead-ins to Lost ... but I think ABC has done it before).

It makes no sense for ABC to end Ted and Scrubs less than sixty days after their seasons started unless the network is cutting its losses and scrapping them.

I have to agree with Timby on this one. They'd fill that other slot for the show to go if they weren't ready to kill Scrubs. Should've let it end with season 8.

At least they're burning them them, rather than shelving the last episode

The last episode of season 8 Scrubs was just fantastic.

ABC what was point in bringing Scrubs back ? Honestly you had enough for Syndication if you wanted it to actually suceed then you should of made it a spin off to attract new viewers who get put off by thge tagline 9th season.

networks the meaning of MILKING IT.

Wasn't it partly to do with some head honcho at ABC covering his ass? He was a fan of the show and when NBC cancelled it he helped Bill Lawrence convince ABC's board that they should air the show themselves, and part of that push was convincing the board that Scrubs could be like ER and work as a revolving cast show. So when season 8 ended and most of the cast decided to move on, ABC felt they should try it out for another year with a new cast to justify saving the show after NBC cancelled it.

At least that's my understanding of the situation.

the problem we have is that this final season of Scrubs, is the final season of Scrubs, if it had been a spin-off (& Braff had not been involved) it would have been forgotten about like say The Tortellis, which has never damaged the good name of Cheers. Even "Joey" wont trouble the bad name of Friends. This last season has damaged the name of Scrubs, history will remeber it.

That's what bothers me the most. Having JD, Turk, Cox, and Kelso all be prominent instead of focusing on the new characters irks me. It's really bad at being a hybrid.

Depends on how you view history. I'll buy season 8 once they finally get around to releasing it over here, and that will be it, so I'll never see Scrubs Med School again. It will be like classic BSG and Galactica 1980; the crapness of Galactica 1980 didn't change the affection many people had for the classic show, and the fans pretended that the whole thing never happened. The same should happen here.

Yeah I don't believe in that bullshit. You don't like the last seasons, then don't buy them or don't watch them. I can't stand most of Stargate after SG-1's season 6. I don't watch it. The only thing there is it screwed up what could have been a wonderful franchise, but it doesn't take away from the fun of seasons 1-6.

well, i enjoyed this weeks episode much more than the earlier ones. the new cast has really grown on me. to bad its not getting picked up, it might have turned out ok

So Zack Braff got his final episode tonight... again. It's funny how the last season ended on such an incredibly poignant note and this time it was just a stupid joke. And they also brought back Sunny... I was wondering why she wasn't in the new season.

That's official now is it? To bad, I thought it had some potential.

It will be interesting to see how the show goes with JD gone and see more Turk and Cox. Cole has also started to grow on me. Him and Kelso being buddies is a laugh.

This sounds crazy...but the first half of this weeks episode actually made me laugh, and forget about JD, Carla and the Janitor. It actually felt like its own show.
