Scrubs: Season Nine

Bill Lawerence requested to ABC that they changed the name to the show with Scrubs Interns or Scrubs Med School being two options, however ABC declined. Bill has told fans to consider season 9 a new show and seperate from the old show. I like the name Scrubs: Med School and felt advertising it properly as a new show would of brought in new viewers and maybe we could of had a 4 year show minimum but now I see season 9 or 10 being the tops.

well, "Dr. Bitchy" is growing on me, the nephew of the director or whoever he is is still a tool though. and i still dont know what to think of #1, his character still seems way out in left field.

overall, while its not the show we used to love, it may have hope yet. just my opinion tho

Hard to believe we're already halfway through the J.D. appearances. Is it six in a row, or will they save 1-2 for the finale?

I didn't think it was possible for J.D. to be even more of an unlikable, self-centered manchild and douchebag, but damn if the writers haven't proven me wrong. He'll always be obnoxious, petty, vain, immature, and a slew of other negative adjectives.

It's time for John Dorian to die in the hottest of fires.

It's not that it's confusing, I'm annoyed that they got married, and Elliot got pregnant, off screen and we only get a throwaway line explaining it. Scrubs is one of my favourite shows of all time, I watched it for over six years at this point and I'm invested in these characters, so to have the male and female lead get married in a missing year is jarring.

Yes, I know, they're not the lead characters anymore, but I still don't like it. *grump*

Amen.

Yeah I've been finding J.D. more annoying than usual but I thought it was just my imagination after not seeing the show recently.

Now that Ted has had his sendoff and JD is about to leave, I'm done with the show. Dr. Cox and Turk aren't going to be enough to keep me watching, even though I've been a loyal viewer for 173 episodes.

I hate Cole. I just absolutely hate the character with a passion. He's just incredibly annoying. If anyone has ever laughed or even smiled at something he has said, you should get checked for head trauma.

Oddly enough, I found Better Off Ted the same week as the new Scrubs season started. I loved Scrubs for eight years, but BOT is certainly the superior one-camera sitcom.

I'll keep watching for now, and maybe even finish off the season, to see if any new dynamic emerges in the absence of the bro-mance and the more memorable secondary characters. I liked Ted's sendoff (and his long-awaited standing up to Kelso, for what little it was worth) and only wish the Worthless Peons could have been there too.

And yes, I hate Cole. Hell, I think the ACTOR for Cole hates Cole. There's just nothing to him that is endearing whatsoever, and he should be turfed as quickly as the Indian intern was fired by Cox last year. They're essentially the same person, and they don't belong at all. I liked Denise last year and I like that they kept her, and Drew has at least SOME interesting stuff about him. Lucy is even more bland than Eliott, and for some reason they're giving Australian Med Student lots of screen time.

And seriously - FOUR hot blonde doctors on the same show (Lucy, Denise, Eliott, Australian Med Student)? Is there that much diversity in the California acting pool? Where the spicy latina? The tough and large black nurse?

Mark

I noticed all the blond doctors. Really hard to distinguish characters at a glance. Laziness with the casting.

Ted's send off is kind of weird. Lets be honest, this season is a spin-off and not season 9, so introducing a character in the fourth episode of a show just to give him an "emotional" send-off is weird. It is almost as if this show thinks that it is proper Scrubs. :wtf:

The worst part of this whole endeavor is that the writers are totally squandering the "Med School" premise. Take last week as an example: At no time would a med student be called on if a patient codes.

There's no point in introducing a new array of characters as med students if they're simply going to be treated as interns, outside of the occasional lecture.

They're squandering my beloved show away is what they're doing. :(

If they get picked up for a 10th season, they had better come up with a better supporting cast. Lucy and Denise and Drew can stay I gues..

They need to give more screen time to that Miller High Life guy too. He's comedy gold.

Nice to see an Australian actress playing an Australian on a US show...damn, Nicky Whelan looks good.

Nicky's my favorite part of the show now...

Honestly, if it hadn't seemed like it was a recycled plot, I think I really would have liked this week's episode...

Your beloved show ended in May, it had a proper finale and everything. Bill Lawrence even says that "season 9" is a new show called Scrubs Med School, but it is being marketed as Scrubs for syndication reasons.

My biggest disappointment with the show is also its saving grace; it is focusing too much on the old cast. This show needed to set itself apart from Scrubs, much like Frasier set itself apart from Cheers, and by having episodes focusing on JD's relationship with Dr Cox, or Ted leaving the hospital, it is saying it doesn't have enough confidence to stand on its own merits. But the only reason I'm still watching is because of the original cast, and the only parts I'm finding funny are the Turk/JD bromance.

I've grown tired of the bromance somewhere around season 4 when it grew really tiresome. We get it.. JD and Turk are best friends forever now move on.

Personally i believe Med School has promise but using the old cast for half of the episode and having them just continue to do their shtick is weighing down the whole show. It doesn't give the new characters much room to expand while we all know that Cox is superficially an asshole while having the best interest of his students at heart. We know that JD is still a nerd (even though he managed to score and knock up two! smoking hot women ;):techman:) and that Turk is.. whatever he is.

Move past that, especially move past old Scrubs tricks like daydreams and having a female John Dorian (who's nowhere near as funny as JD Season 1-2) and maybe then you might have a decent comedy show though i don't believe it will ever be that funny like Scrubs was with the stellar supporting cast and brilliant main actors.
