Scrubs: Season Nine

CBS: "NCIS" rerun (13.2 million, 8.7/13)
NBC: "The Biggest Loser" (9.7 million, 6.0/9)
FOX: "So You Think You Can Dance" (5.8 million, 3.7/6)
ABC: "Scrubs" season premiere - two episodes (4.5 million, 2.8/4)
The CW: "Melrose Place" (1.4 million, 1.0/2)

It was funny in places, but almost only in scenes that involved the original cast. The only exception I can think of was some of the stuff about the #1 sign, but that's because it was a Dr (Prof) Cox joke even though he wasn't on screen.

I found the new blonde lead to be annoying at times and I was so unimpressed by her that I can't even remember her name. One of the big tests of her character is the crazy fantasy bit and I found that to be painfully unfunny (except the shot of JD with his shirt open, and that doesn't even make sense because it wasn't JD having the fantasy).

JD and Elliot are married?

They need to bring Doug back so that he can treat Cole.

As has been said, the real test is going to be the episodes where JD isn't around, and from what I've seen so far the show isn't going to work without him. I'll keep watching for now, but only for the characters I grew to know over the last 8 years. Still, in my mind JD's projector fantasy in My Finale is the canon ending, this show is an alternate universe created by a time travelling Higgs Boson from the LHC. ;)

2.8?!? Ouch. There's almost always a big drop following a premiere like this. Sounds to me with all this negativity on the show, 9x03 might drop Scrubs into the ratings basement.

did they even do ANY promo's for it? i'm sure the lack of had something to do with the low ratings.

as i mentioned i only found out it had come back for another season about 5 minutes before airtime.

Damn I was thinking 4.24 million.

I saw a lot of promos for the premiere in the past week on ABC, it was a "V" parody where J.D. appears on the bottom of the spaceship instead of Anna.

I watched about 15 minutes of it, and it felt incredibly flat and tired to me (they're really going to make another young intern struggle for the affections of Dr. Cox again??)

Basically all the gags and storylines felt like stuff recycled from the first season, but with more boring characters.

dont worry, even if cancelled we'll still see the actors in some half-ass 1/2hour comedy shows. i mean honestly, with the way ABC reuses actors they're each get 2 shows! hell the janitor already has his!

Well I have to say I enjoyed the first two eps. While far from perfect, I was still very much entertained by the show.

Let's see... all the stuff with the old characters was great. Don't care much for Lucy, but she could improve. I still love Denise/Jo... awesome character. Drew's pretty cool too. And like everyone else, I absolutely loathe Cole. Oh, and the Australian chick is seriously hot. :D

A bit disappointed.

It feels like Scrubs 2.0 down to the last shtick. I had hoped they would come up with something unique but they took JDs style and just transferred it to some noname young blonde who plays a female JD back from season 1.

All the other actors have remained the same and i'm fine with it.. after all i love them after 8 years but i had hoped they'd develop something new for the "newbies".

I do love this cynical Jo character though.. she's awesome with her attitude

SO AGREED! No one should be as weird as JD - ever. The fantasies were all his own, and to introduce a new, pitiful female doing the same thing is just lame.

IF they were going to go this route, they should have kept Sunny around. She was already well-established last season and ended up really growing into a fun character. She had the idealism of JD's character without being his clone.

Otherwise, they should have focused the show on Denise as the TA torn between the students and the faculty. And they softened her up way too early. She needs to stay that anti-emotional dude-chick for a while yet before softening into relationship mode.

I just watched these two new episodes and it just seems the show has lost something. The bits with JD and Turk were good, but apart from that it's lacking.

Lucy reminds me of Elliot from the first season, and I agree with the poster who said it feels like they're rehashing stories.

Janitor was hands down the best character on the show, and without him it just doesnt seem the same :(

^But I DO love that once he noticed JD was missing, and was told he wasn't coming back, the Janitor just handed in his mop and walked away, never to be seen again :)

Of course, if what JD said was true, and they just blew up the old hospital and built a new one on the Med School campus, then Janitor would have just seen JD again there...

I'm hoping that at the end of Braff's six-episode contract, the Janitor shows up out of nowhere, grabs J.D., stuffs him into the trunk of his car, and neither are heard from ever again.

JD and Elliot are married?

Why does that confuse you? They were pretty clearly headed in that direction at the end of last season, and it's established that this is at least a year later, so they've had plenty of time to tie the knot...

It's not that it's confusing, I'm annoyed that they got married, and Elliot got pregnant, off screen and we only get a throwaway line explaining it. Scrubs is one of my favourite shows of all time, I watched it for over six years at this point and I'm invested in these characters, so to have the male and female lead get married in a missing year is jarring.

Yes, I know, they're not the lead characters anymore, but I still don't like it. *grump*
