^^ Now that's ugly, if you ask me.

And you have to wonder why we didn't ask you?

Offtopic, but is the user name something to do with having lost your faith, or a riff on the way they 'this' in Brooklyn?
Because you couldn't handle the truth?

And nope, nothing of the sort. Relic of the days of release groups and such. You TOS people, always trying to read too much into things, even when they're not 'cerebral' in any way. :D

^^ Now that's ugly, if you ask me.

As opposed to this monstrosity?
Yes sir, that's what I call beautiful. It's good there's such a thing as personal taste, though some it more then others. :p

Would you commit suicide if they decided to destroy it in the next movie?

 Of course not, it's not that important. It's just a movie.

Well, I'm hoping that they do destroy it. :techman:

Well, if they do, good for you.

And I wouldn't mind, either. I do hope the next Enterprise will be even more beautiful. Perhaps they should make it less like the old Enterprises; the whole saucer and nacelles thing is getting a bit stale after 45-odd years. Perhaps less adherence to the old Star Trek style would be good, not only for the outside, but also for the inside. :techman:

Oh, love it, just eat this up. That reads about as clever as, 'you darkies can only shuffle your feet along real slow when you're picking cotton, but comes time for dinner, you pick 'em up and move.'

It was a joke; you could try to laugh, even if you don't get it. Like this ->

Your comparison is ludicrous and insulting.

As they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

As much as I love the new ship... I have to admit that's still not the most flattering shot. I think it's just because of it's cropped though.

I remember people photoshopped the entire ship early on (and without the shuttle) and it looked a lot better and more in proportion.

Please host images posted inline on web space belonging to you. See the link to TrekBBS image-posting policy below.

At 1280 x 1024 and 112.8K, that image is too large to be posted inline, besides which it's hotlinked from Tobias Richter's website, which is a no-no. Please familiarize yourself with TrekkBBS policies concerning the posting of images, so that this does not occur again.

Thanks. :)

And completely unnecessary and irrelevant to the topic. This is two threads I've seen so far this morning containing jousting between DiSiLLUSiON and trevanian, and I think that's about enough of that. Please stick to the post and not take shots at the poster, guys.

I've seen pictures where the shuttle has been removed from the shot, and it makes no difference, as you still have a minimal secondary hull, bloated nacelles, etc. The proportions are out of whack, which makes it rather unattractive imo only.

No problem. :techman:

That depends on personal taste.

In my eyes, these new proportions (though not all that different) are more to the "balanced" side of the equation. The old Enterprises did have rather small nacelles with clumsy struts, if you compare it to the engineering hull. Why doesn't matter, but it never looked really right to me, especially with the weird angles on the Ent-A and the very small nacelles on the Ent-D. This one seems to have the center of it's mass much closer to it's real center.

Even though you might not like the lines, I don't think this Enterprise looks flimsy, but rather solidly built.

Ha! Ha! You're funny!
Don't fret, you'll come around.
Hey- when I first saw Superman's new suit for Superman Returns, I absolutely HATED it.
Now I...
absolutely hate it...

Hmm... perchance you won't come around...

But it's all good!
