Ryan Church's design, don't mince words, what do you really feel?

10 years from now everyone will be going, "Heh, remember the arguments over whether we liked the Church design or not? I can't believe there was ever a time when some peeps hated it!"

Actually, 10 years from now we'll still be having the exact same arguments just like it happens with the old shows and movies...

LOL, well, I don't know how old you are, but in 1979 there was furor over the fact that the deflector dish in TMP was not as advertised in the back of EVERY comic book in '78-'79. The ad art clearly showed it there, yet in the movie it was recessed, and didn't have the little pointy part in the center. It took us a while to acclimate to that too, back then.

Oh lord
Luckily I was not even born at the time

I love the curved pylons, but I do kinda wish the nacelles themselves weren't so close together. Seems like they need to be spaced a little more than they are...
Straightening the pylons would have achieved that very thing.
Just sayin'.:vulcan:

One person mentioned that the secondary hull is not substantive enough and therefore out of proportion with the rest of the ship. Another thought the pylons should be straight, which would make the nacelles farther apart.

If these things were changed, it would look more like the Enterprise from ST VI, which I thought was the best design.

But the STVI E had the rectangular nacelles, slanted pylons & recessed deflector dish. See? No design is perfect, except, arguably for purists, the original Jefferies design.

Look, I actually liked the E from the later NG movies, and if I can like that, I can like anything.
Or love, in the case of the newest one.:adore:

When the first picture of the new Enterprise was released I didn't like the design very much. But once I saw the ship in trailers and especially after seeing it on the big screen, my opinion of the design went way up.

I think that first picture they released was from the worst possible angle, and gave a lot of people (including me) a bad first impression.

Yes, I liked all those features.
