Removing explicit content from ST shows?

WTF?

Seriously, is the idea here that the "future-audience" will be too evolved to comprehend sex and violence, so we need to preemptively censor Star Trek for the benefit of our more enlightened ancestors?

I'm sorry. That's just silly.

Descendants, Greg. Ancestors come earlier in one's timeline. Descendants come later.

The use of the term opposite to the correct one is likely a momentary lapse, but it's a mistake I've seen more people making lately.

To clarify, just a simple suggestion that there should be a water-down version,
a future-audience will not have the mental capacity to watch certain parts of the videos,
it avoids having to skip or fastforward through parts not contributing to the narrative.

You and future generations either need to grow up, or go watch Sesame Street.

it could be a hard r, but it could also be:
Alveolar trill [r]
Alveolar approximant [ɹ]
Alveolar flap / Alveolar tap [ɾ]
Voiced retroflex fricative [ʐ]
Retroflex approximant [ɻ]
Retroflex flap [ɽ]
Uvular trill [ʀ]
Voiced uvular fricative [ʁ]

Oops. You are quite correct. Appreciate the catch.

Star Trek: Picard, is without a doubt, a hard R.
PG-13. They averaged one non-sexual "fuck" per episode. One fuck makes it PG-13. Two fucks makes it R.

"Stardust City Rag" might be R for the opening scene with Icheb, which is hard for me to re-watch, but that's it.

The only two other episodes that would qualify as Rated R are from DSC.
  • 1. In "Choose Your Pain", when Tilly says "That's so fucking cool", Tilly apologizes for blurting it out, and then Stamets says, "No, you're right, It is fucking cool!" Two fucks.
  • 2. The episode where they show the half-second of L'Rell's breast. Which I didn't even notice the first time around, that's how fast it was. I wouldn't have even thought about it afterwards either, if I hadn't seen so much mock-outrage about it in the DSC Forum at the time.

Why do I say "mock outrage"? This is a mostly male, mostly heterosexual board. These people are going to be upset about seeing breasts and actually mean it? Yeah right. Pull the other one.

-The original series, was maybe ]PG-13[ at the time, watching it retroactively should be rating ]R[
I'm sorry, can we hit on this a little bit more? Either clause? Both? I'm very confused by this perspective.

Like, TV-edits of AA-era shows is something that makes sense (I wouldn't be surprised if there is an alternate take of Tilly saying some other workplace-inappropriate but prime-time acceptable word for how cool the DASH drive is, for instance; how has the swearing been handled when DSC has been broadcast on actual TV in reruns?). TOS, which in reality was regarded as being mostly for kids, being considered teens-and-above for the time in the OP's reckoning, and adults-only by today's standards... the mind boggles. Literally. My head is shaking around, all the little letters are bouncing off each other in there, it's wild.
