Remember this?! Doesn't look so bad now does it???

Best. Fan film teaser. Ever.

Well, they finally did it; they killed my fucking Star Trek!
See and this is why you fail.

Star Trek isn't yours.

C'mon, I think he was just joking about Carpe Occasio's image post...

The winnar is you. :D

I was wondering if someone would get that reference, which would be of The Big Lebowski if anyone is remotely curious, along with a certain image macro I've been using. ;) The thing to keep in mind with me is that usually I'm being sarcastic or joking in some way. :rommie:

I completely disagree. I like the new ship - if it were to be named anything other than Enterprise no one would have a problem with it.

They would say that it looks too much like the Enterprise.

Yikes, you're right - Remember how they complained that the ENT Enterprise didn't look enough like the TOS Enterprise?

I personally don't think the new design is quite as elegant as the TOS Enterprise, but seriously, it looks really fantastic in a lot of other ways.

There are still people who claim to see no similarities between the NX-01 and the Akira, too.

As for Gabe's thoughts, they're posted at SFM: link

(hopefully he doesn't mind me posting this...)
Unless he's specifically given his permission for you to post it here, (which your parenthetical comment indicates is not the case) then I'll have to remove the quoted text. From the Board Rules:
Privacy

On the internet, a person's privacy is very valuable. Unless a poster has made it clear they don't mind, you can't post any details of their real-life identity on the board. You also cannot post material such as chat logs, emails, private messages or messages from other message boards - without the consent of all involved parties.
The link can stay, since it points to where Gabe posted it himself.

Oh. Oops. I've never seen a policy like that on another board; the only no-no I knew of was not to post artwork without permission (learned that one the hard way :o ), but I guess this makes sense in the same vein. Noted for future reference.

Obviously, I have a more traditional view of what the Enterprise should look like, at least when I’m not trying to pull an April Fool’s joke with it. I do have to mention, though, that if you look very closely, you may notice that the warp nacelles are nearly identical to the Foolerprise, minus the glowing grills on top. Sometimes you find things you really like in unexpected places, something everyone would do well to keep in mind as they go off to see the new movie. ;)

Your ship is pretty much perfect. If only we could have gotten that instead of the Church design. Had Foolerprise not holes in the saucer I'd take even it over the Church version, hell, I'd take it even with them...

Damn, who put that together? The damage is well-done.

The image of the starship with the hull damage is taken from a remastered TOS episode if I remember correctly (The Doomsday Machine I think). I broke it up into pieces and reassembled it, inserting it all into a beach image (I like the footprints). I did alter the damage to the saucer section to remove certain elements from the image.

I think that will always be my very favorite thing that we did.

Actually, I should say "they" - I don't think I contributed to this shot at all. It was Bruce Jensen doing the matte and touch-ups on Sasser's saucer model, Jimm doing a lot of live-action rotoscoping and probably some other folks I've missed. No CG here.

What is this from? Is this a fan-film? It's looks damn good if so.

Yeah, it's from the Starship Exeter episode "The Tressaurian Intersection."

We did call it the "Planet Of The Apes reveal."
