The Mirror Universe is an obvious recurring... thing in the different iterations of ST

Are there other recurring ones?

How about loosely "inspired by"?

For example, I submit TNG:Yesterday's Enterprise was inspired by MU, and That TNG: Encounter at Farpoint (mostly Q) was inspired by TOS:The Squire of Gothos.

I know there's more...

It was a good concept, and even though neither Hard Time nor Memorial can match the awesomeness of The Inner Light they are all good episodes in their own rights.

I'm just getting to re-watching DS9, I'll remember to check back here for this reminder so I can compare :-).

There are probably quite a lot that it this umbrella, depending how loosely based on you're willing to get, but man some are almost remakes.

Ah, good connection, hadn't thought of That, possibly because they are all terrible episodes I would rather forget. Odd, because usually when they retread a theme it's from a good episode.
