Random Trek "Problems" That Bug You (and that you can't let go!)

I read a lot of comments on the section 31 issue. Trying to be polite no the whatever that was they released. The concept of section 31 was great as a mysterious group hinted at and whispered in the books and later shows. However shining a light on a dark group takes away the mystery and kills the intrigue.
I'm still not understanding what they were thinking about with the Star Fleet Academy thing they had a great one started and deliberately killed it then give us that last whatever it was. What drugs are the Disney executives on?
Disney?

So Picard knocks up Crusher at some point, and he never finds out until his son is grown up.

What other crew members unknowingly knocked women while out in space? Why hasn't this problem been solved? You'd think birth control would be far more advanced by then, especially with folks in space.

Picard’s Borg-powered sperm overcame the birth control.

:shifty:

Disney gets high on coke cut with mouse dander.

It’s a TV show, surprise relatives aren’t just for Soap Operas. So every character in the list. Birth control works at need of plot.

In DS9's "THE DOGS OF WAR", it was established that men can take an injection that acts like birth control. Ben forgot around that time, given all that happened at that point (attack on Earth, the Defiant's destruction, finding out Section 31 created the Founders' disease, Gowron putting the entire war at risk, etc.), he had a lot going on at once. This is why Kasidy got pregnant.

So the solution exists.

You'd think it would be mandatory like a vaccine for Star Fleet. Gotta keep the head count down on those starships. Can't have a bunch of babies popping up while on a five year mission. :)
In an era where families are allowed to live on starships? Not sure why that'd be an issue.

Birth control in Starfleet was discussed as early as The Making of Star Trek in 1968.

There would have been a babyspike 9 months after The Naked Time AND The Naked Now if birth control wasn't mandatory. So how did JL&B conceive? It must require periodic injections or some magical procedure yet as unknown to our primitive science that fades with time.

"I'm a Doctor, not an obstetr--oh wait."
