Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Since my medical issues started back up I've been watching stuff from disability advocates on Instagram, and I really want to know who exactly decided what disabled people are supposed to look like and what the age limit for having a disability is. Because the two most common comments they get from random strangers is "you don't look disabled" and "you're two young to be disabled".
It's also worth remembering that are a lot of disabilities where the severity changes from day to day, so just because you see a person using a wheelchair today, after you saw them up walking around yesterday, doesn't mean they're faking it. Hell I go back and forth between walking and not being able to walk multiple times in one day.

I went through an eye-opening example of that twenty-odd years ago. One of my co-workers in a call center used a wheelchair to get around, but one evening I saw him walking past my cubicle out of the corner of my eye. Turns out that night he was trying out his new prosthetic leg. After that, he would use the either the prosthetic or the chair, depending on how his leg felt that day.

The operators of a Dairy Queen in Pennsylvania made a big stink about the Halloween themed food and snacks not aligning with their Christian beliefs and posted on their social media platforms that they wouldn't be selling them. They have since made their socials private.

We're in this weird place, where both the left and right are canceling, so what we're left with is pretty bland.

My first personal email provider was Yahoo. I'd tried a couple of others at times but overall found Yahoo's been simple, clear and straightforward to use which is what I want.

Yahoo New Email, an attempt to reverse the decline in use of Yahoo, erupts onto the scene. It's messy, hard-to-read, cluttered and slow, full of pop-ups urging you to do things.. The "improvements" consist of things I don't want and for which I have no use (but hey! let's take up nearly half the screen with them! You don't really want to see your emails, do you?). The already-existing problems are still there. Bizarrely, they are hoping more people will be prepared to pay for this.

The changes seem to have gone down like a lead balloon - so much so that Yahoo have just added a "help" bit for the disgruntled which basically says "there's no going back: get used to it"...

Well, I have bitten the bullet and set up a zoho account for the least used of my Y! accounts. I shall be seeing how that goes before migrating the other accounts but it's already been a cleaner and clearer experience.

Yeah, that's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. A big one I'd never heard of until recently is POTS, which sounds like it's one where you can be up walking around like normal one day, and then practically bed ridden the next.

Banks.... They make record profits year in year out but can't even maintain the basics like a reliable online service, mine's been down for the last 6 hours. Ain't tech wonderful?

i am on disability for autism, essentially. it makes me feel weird. like i am taking away from people with real problems. people tell me i shouldn't feel that way, including people WITH severe physical problems, but...

they took away the final vestiges of the nice dark blue waves theme i had from customizing everything the better part of two decades ago ): now it's ugly and looks like gmail and has intrusive popups and ads in my email (that aren't email)
