Production Quality Of Picard

As for fashion... Depending on the show and on context, I like both the "realistic" and the more outlandish "futuristic" choices. While most of us feel common fashion is getting more diverse and forgiving (I'm not sure it's really true), I would bet that there will always be ridiculous fashion trends, particularly for young people. It's a way of showing your difference from your elders, of experimenting etc. Which is why I actually liked, for example, Jake's garish (and highly impractible) one-piece... whatever you call these garments. Anyone remember those?

For uniforms, I prefer the more realistic, less pyjama-like versions. Even though I'm fond of the TOs uniforms.
Btw., Babylon 5 already took the more realistic roads wrt uniforms.

I'm an addict. I'm aware of the nuance, thank you.
Farinas's Law of internet arguing. Saying you are the thing you're arguing about makes you an incontrovertible expert. You do this a lot, like when we were discussing relationships in another thread and you said you were a marriage counselor. So convenient. Whether you're telling the truth or not is meaningless, though. Many other addicts and addiction specialists would disagree with you.

Jake's outfits from the third season on aren't too bad. Some of them are pretty snazzy, actually. But during the first two seasons? Forget about it.

I thought the civilian clothing by DS9 and VOY didn't look anywhere near as bad as it did on TNG a lot of the time. Still not quite there, but better than it was before. Garak and Quark always looked sharp.

Not a marriage counselor, thanks.

No, I'm not incontrovertible. I just know what I know because of my experiences and work.

And, I spoke in error regarding addiction being a choice. I meant substance use as a choice. My bad.

Right. I will not take your word for it since I have worked with people who are in monogamous relationships and work to improve their relationships through communication with those women who "don't matter."

^^^ Here you are saying you're some kind of couple's counsellor. We had a whole discussion about appealing to authority after that. Was that a fib? And your talk about simple choices is still ignorant. You don't know how substances are introduced to people. Some people are genetically predisposed to alcoholism. A binge in college that doesn't effect me could trap someone else for life. What about pain killers? Are those a choice when a doctor prescribes them? Blanketed statement of personal responsibility are a cheap way to make yourself feel superior.

I'm a mental health counselor, not a marriage counselor. Two different specialties within the field.

I have met people who were introduced to substances when they were 8, doing lines of coke, meth, and the like until 16. They are sober now. Why? Choice. I worked with a gentleman who refuses to use painkillers now because he has a history of addiction. Choice.

No, I don't feel superior, because I could never imagine their experiences. But I know them.

Superior? I'm an addict and they are clean.

Anything else?

Sure, caught in a lie, fix it so it’s not really a lie. If you’re really any kind of counselor you’re a terrible one. Your ideas seem consistently stuck in political rhetoric rather than the latest medical and scientific findings. Talking about the “choices” of under age children. LOL. What an ugly joke. Is it a choice for older people really? Or is it experience? Or safety nets? Or family insistence and support? What kind of addict are you, recovered? If you are do you think you did that by choice?

Yes, I did it by choice.

And I will continue to be a terrible counselor. Thank you.

Live long and prosper.

No, you said it was the only way. It’s a choice. Period. And you figured it out. You’re better than the ones that didn’t.
I was not aware saying people had choice was a bad thing...

I stated I misspoke about the nature of addiction. I stated that using substances is a choice. People can choose to use substances, choose to get help, and all manner of choices in between.

No where have I declared myself right, or perfect. In fact, I agreed that I am probably a terrible counselor, as well as an addict. That clients I have worked with have done what I have not yet.

It's not about being right.

The fleet didn't bother me, nor the reuse of existing assets like the Disco bridge and shuttles. TNG/DS9/VOY endlessly recycled assets made for the first Trek movie IMO this is no different.
The fleet really bothered me, on the other hand. Fortunately Starfleet isn't the focus of the show, which makes it pretty much a non-issue as far as enjoyment goes.
Finally, to me, the idea of all of Riker's ships being the same
Which would be great if those ships looked good. Alas, they looked like poorly-textured and lit STO rejects. It had to be a rush job.

Choice is always used as a way to withhold empathy. People don’t deserve rights or help because it’s their choice. Being poor, or addicted, or depressed, or gay, or trans. It’s a choice and we don’t have to deal with you. It’s the same refrain over and over. I don’t have to empathize with you because you made the “wrong choice”. I’m so tired of that line.

And now you are putting words in my mouth.

Good day.

Getting back on topic...

If it were me, I would've used that ship Riker had, but I also would've added in some other Starfleet ships that have been introduced from First Contact on in the background.

But this was afterthought way in the back of my mind. I was too engrossed in watching as it was on. Picard persuading Soji to not call on whatever it was out there. And then Riker delivering his killer line, "Just give me to an excuse to kick your Tal'Shiar ass."

I knew Oh would be sticking around. I think we'll be seeing her in the second season for sure.

And now you are putting words in my mouth.
Good day.

No, I’m letting people know what the meaning and ramifications of your words are. You don’t need to like it. And saying “good day” isn’t going to stop me from making that clear.
