*Potential Spoilers* What will the Alternate Enterprise-A look like

I really think this is going to be a pre-TOS series. I just hope that they don't make it about Captain Garth of Izar. I really don't want to hear the Axanar people's comments on that one.
Could be pre TOS but it looks too futuristic for that and the colour is off to what it normally is, it was confirmed that it takes place in the prime universe.

...Memory-Alpha... what happens on screen is gospel;

Not all the time though. they break their own rule and use production materials as sources for somethings (and not for others).

Actually, if it wasn't for production materials, most class names in the canon probably wouldn't have names.

Was Miranda-Class ever seen/said on screen? Or Oberth?

Wanted to let everyone know that the Walmart exclusive bluray comes with an Enterprise model according to TrekCore.

The Ent-A looks beautiful, that "under construction" shot was amazing. The only change I would make is to have the pylons join the nacelles a little farther back. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Discovery but it's starting to grow on me.

Agree. Too much space between the saucer edge and nacelles. But it works as is for most angles.

Least attractive angle I have seen so far. They went from over-proportioned to under-proportioned.

I just hope the interior looks better. Never like the white walls n black floors for ST

Just hope JJ doesn't go back and JJ everything

Having read your other posts over the years you defenitely seem to be a fan of the "older" designs. Don't judge the designers of NuTrek harshly. They have the difficult job to make starships, that made their debut in the 60s and seemed pretty futuristic for that time, appear modern (and not "archaic") for our era, without departing too much from the general design philosophy.

Well, the design seems heavily inspired by the TOS Phase II TV Series Enterprise redesign that never got the green light.
Phase_II_Enterprise.jpg

Judging from the registry number, NCC-1031, we are looking at a starship that predates the Enterprise. So the show may very well take place between Enterprise and nuStarTrek bridging the gap between those 2 eras.

That concept is from Planet Of The Titans. The Phase II Enterprise was fairly similar to what we got for TMP, but a little closer to TOS in some details.

Lord Sarvain did a really gorgeous update of the POTT version here.

Her pylons are much thicker and her stardrive section look beefier as well.

The whole ship is chunkier. They wanted the 1701 itself to look spindly so to add horror of the amputations. ENT-D like neck connection

She looks very bottom heavy, like an Ambassador class or something - I like it.

I like big secondary hulls and I cannot lie.

Me too

I just wish the nacelles weren't hanging on the very edge of the pylons

Well, take a look at the early designs of the TOS Enterprise. Shaw shows the nacelles were hung like that as well--before they were reversed--and rode higher--attached closer in.

1701-A here is actually moving toward TOS. Shorter secondary hull. Nacelle supports a tad taller--saucer with a more bevelled edge...

Well that was explained in the game actually, their technology had become stagnant. They had the numbers, but the tech wasn't much better then what we had.

Like hyperdrive on star wars but worse. Have a doorway to anywhere--and you get lazy.

Spock's phaser looks beefier than Kirk's too--assault phaser?

I mostly like the look of the new version of the ship, which changes a lot of things didn't work about the design from the 2009 film. A few simple fixes, the nacelles do not look ridiculously oversized, and the connecting "neck" is not weirdly set so far back on the engineering section of the ship. I know it's hard to reconceptualize a design that was originally created 50 years ago, but the alternate reality Enterprise felt like an "overthinking it" re-design. The Enterprise-D felt that way, too. In the past I've preferred the refitted movie Enterprise, and the Enterprise-E. I also really liked Koener's Enterprise concept for the Ships of the Line calendar.

Tripped upon this morning... gives you an idea of a few changes. The new pylons are what really "jumped" out at me, both last night and looking at this.

Thanks for link. I don't like the nacelle pylons - too thick, and should be swept back.
Not a fan of the bevelled saucer; makes it look less imposing. And the saucer should be higher placed, and more forward. Nacelles close together doesn't bother me nearly as much as nacelles too close to the saucer, which makes the ship look squat.
Based just on that image, I think the hull is white.
Presumably this will all be tweaked for the next movie, hopefully for the better.

It's very likely we get a completely new bridge next time. :)
Maybe more in red and black this time? :D
Pink chairs!!!!

Are we still doing immature name calling?

After rewatching STID- i loved it.....perhaps JJ was the spark we needed............So after 7 years of this....

Nu-Trek is the way to go IMHO...............so maybe Abrams saved it after all. Yes, it is completely different from TOS or even TNG.

But...........IT WORKS. Not supremely, but it works. And I CARE about Pine, Quinto and the rest.....

To prevent attacks from swarm ships, I wonder if the A and future Starfleet ships are equipped with pulse weapons

Well, they all will be equipped with FM radios and Jayla's iPod playlist. That's for sure. ;)

Which incidentally would render the inevitable V'Ger problem trivial. XD
