Orphan Black - Season 3 Discussion

Good News

Orphan Black Renewed for Season 4

This was a lot earlier of an announcement than last year. I remember that happened in July. Maybe since John and Graham have said it's a 5 season show, BBC America/Space will give them those extra two seasons regardless of ratings.

I wonder how the ratings have been for Season 3. They say it's one of the top shows in terms of ads and social media so that's good news I think.

I'm not worried. Unless this season takes a major dump, they'll get to do the 5 seasons they want to.

Though this season is a bit less balls-to-the-wall than the last 2 (so far). I figure it'll pick up action-wise soon enough.

Yeah last year the pickup was well after season 2 ended so this is great news. I just hope they stick to the five year plan and can actually get it done.

This last episode was the best episode of the season so far. Things finally seem to be moving forward, and dammit, I still like the Castor clones. I miss the Ledas interacting with each other and wonder where Delphine, Marion, and Charlotte are, but things moved forward and I have a feeling we will finally see Sarah and Helena reuniting in this next episode.

I just hope Helena hasn't bought into the Castors' lies about Sarah selling her out. But her comment to exposed-brain Castor suggested that she does accept the premise that her family abandoned her. Hopefully the bond between sestras will prevail over the lies.

I LOVED that Alison's drug dealer boss is her old school flame. She was actually flirting with him while discussing terms. Ha!

I forsee Donnie not liking this much.

Didn't Alison have an affair with Aynsley's husband in season 1? History could repeat itself.

Sheesh, even in a world with Dyad and the Proletheans and Castor, Alison still somehow manages to be her own worst enemy.

Just when I thought that episode was just ok they have that climax. That was a hell of a climax, with the music and everything. This actually felt like the end of season 1 with the music kind of telling the story, only here it was bang bang bang of climax for each storyline.

I do hope Sarah gets out next week though. I thought that would happen here and maybe my expectations were a little too high.

Oh, Pupok, how could you lead Helena astray like that? We thought you were her friend!

That was a pretty amazing escape plan Helena worked out. How long ago must she have gotten the idea in order to save up that many packets of butter? And why didn't the guards notice the wrappers weren't coming out with the trays?

I'm wondering if the doctors will find out that Gracie didn't actually miscarry after all. Maybe that blind Prolethean elder faked it somehow. It did seem kind of fishy to me.

But... a dance party with no clones? I didn't realize such a thing was possible! ;)

Who was that woman with the weird eyes who met Art in the car at the end? It wasn't Cosima's date, was it?

It was the woman that filed the police report after being "surprised" by the two Castor clones in bed, the one that told Sarah about them cutting a bit of her hair.

It seems that the boy clones have some kind of fast-acting STD, and it may be that which killed Gracie's child.

I think it could be the equivalent of the "barren by design" of the LEDA clones, and like that, the Castor disease an accidental byproduct of it.

Oh, look, Donnie has produced a viral-video campaign ad for Alison!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3a3Ky19iZs

Be sure to freeze-frame the "credits" at the end -- lots of in-jokes.

(Sorry, I tried embedding it, but it disappeared.)

Also, I totally failed to recognize that Cosima's date Shay is Ksenia Solo from Lost Girl. She really changed herself.

Because Helena graphically ate the first several butters wrapper and all in front of them when they came to collect the tray. So she established herself as a butter wrapper eater.

That's my idea and I think it is true :D

That confused me so much I had to hit imdb to be sure.

Apparently, she's gonna be in a bunch of episodes.

Still, Zoie Palmer's going to be in Dark Matter. You think this a sign of the end of Lost Girl?

(I know. Question for another thread...)

Well, it's been on 5 seasons on Syfy...so that means a last minute announcement of a 6th season with only 6 episodes to wrap it up (after they've already started filming the first 3 episodes of season 6). :rommie:

Love the Alison campaign, and the credits..hope we see more of these! (and maybe a rebuttal from her opponent)

Lost Girl is a Canadian series aired by the Showcase network. Syfy just re-airs it. The show is currently halfway through its 16-episode final season; the first eight episodes (which Syfy is currently rerunning) aired on Showcase last December and January, and the final eight will air sometime in the fall. I'd imagine production has already completed, which is why Palmer is available for Dark Matter.

And incidentally, no original series actually produced by Syfy (as opposed to acquisitions from elsewhere like Lost Girl and Continuum) has ever run for more than five seasons on the network. Eureka was aired across six broadcast seasons, but one of its production seasons had its halves aired a year apart, so it really only had five seasons. Stargate SG-1 had ten seasons in all, but the first five were on Showtime.

Got it!
