Orphan Black - Season 2 Discussion

This show is such a ride. This was one of the best episodes this season. All the clones got great moments, and Kira got a great moment, and Delphine was interesting, and they managed to redeem Donnie and Gracie and even Mark, and to, at least for the time being, resolve both the Prolethean plot and the Angela/Vic plot while progressing other stories. That's pretty impressive.

That was some great misdirection with Rachel. We obviously knew she was going to impersonate Sarah and I even thought "heh, that sounds a bit like Rachel" when she talked to Felix and it still caught me by surprise when the phone started ringing.

The Rachel/Sarah switch fooled me right up until the phone call. I think it was because of the masterful way it was edited. We jump from Sarah leaving Delphine's limo to a shot of Rachel-as-Sarah running to Mrs. S. telling her that Rachel was making her movie.

Of course on rewatch I can tell that Rachel's voice is there, even if it's subtle, but I tell you, they got me the first time.

I wonder if Rachel wants to raise Kira to be just like herself.

Rachel is the most unstable one of the bunch. One minute happy & smiling over the childhood videos, the next minute cold as hell, another minute letting Leekie get away rather than letting him be killed (by Dyad anyway). Schizoid much?

And yeah, Donnie finally growing a pair was great as was the subsequent dark murder sex. Threatening Vic and then detective Deangelis, Donnie is really pissed about being used.

I'm wondering if Allison and Donnie are going to go on a murder kick now. I mean it has worked so well so far. Other people annoy Allison, most people.. why not just get Donnie to do man stuff to them?

Kind of hilarious that Dyad will have no idea she's likely to do in their personnel if they piss her off too much.

God, I hope not. That's not a direction I want the show to take.

Someone fell asleep watching Natural Born Killers.

Although, ####ing on top of the freezer did remind me of the beginning of season 2 American Horror.

:)

I want to see a scene where someone, probably Sarah says "We are not murderers!"

And under her breath Allison says "Well, I am, and I'm pretty good at it."

I can see it being very tempting for her.

Got rid of one problem, granted it turned out not to actually be a problem though still annoying, but it's gone now, YES!

Got rid of another problem, granted didn't know it was a problem at the time but MY GOD what a huge problem it could have become and it's gone now, YES!

Plus I don't think Allison is all that popular. She set up that whole wrapping room and how many presents does she actually get to wrap? This could be a good outlet, albeit not with as nice paper.

She has children.

At least 30 birthdays a year per each of her children, for only just the kids on their classes.

Now add family birthdays + Christmas, and now add Donnie and Allison's friends plus their children.

A wrapping room is the bare minimum.

Allison should have hired a team of maids just for wrapping.

For a few years in my family we wrapped everything in aluminium foil. You just fold it. You don't need tape. It was awesome.

So after some more problems are solved using Allison's manly man and her wrapping techniques she is eventually caught when her use of pinking shears on the heavy duty plastic she wraps the bodies in leads back to her, and her wrapping room.

I was watching Tatiana being interviewed and she has a lot of "Rachel" to her with parts of "Sarah" and "Alison". Watching OB I subconsciously thought she'd basically be like Sarah, this show messes with your head. :)

That's not where I want the show to go, and I think it would be mishandling Alison as a character. The thing about Alison is, she makes terrible decisions. She's really not very smart or sensible, and whenever she's forced to cope with something outside her very narrow comfort zone of suburban housewifery, she panics and does absolutely the wrong thing and makes everything worse. So no, killing people would not solve Alison's problems. Everything she does that she thinks is a solution to her problems only compounds and worsens them.

I mean, seriously, burying Leekie on their own property? How stupid is that? The moment the police have any reason to link them to Leekie and get a search warrant, that newly poured concrete in the shape of a grave -- with a heart etched in it -- is going to be a dead giveaway, pardon the expression. And Vic has now seen Donnie handling the murder weapon. Since he's a drug dealer, I assume Vic is familiar enough with firearms to be able to testify as to its make and model.

And yes, the obvious next step for them is to bump off Vic, but there's no way these idiots would do it in a way that wouldn't lead back to them.

Anyway, at this point, neither of them has killed on purpose. Alison made a panicked decision not to save the life of someone who was dying from accidental causes -- which is certainly immoral but not technically a crime, since the victim was not someone she was legally responsible for and the accident did not happen on her property or as a direct result of a hazard she created. And while Donnie is technically guilty of felony murder, since he killed Leekie while committing the felony of kidnapping, it was an accident with no intent to kill. So morally speaking, neither of them has crossed the line into intentional or premeditated murder. And I would very much like it to stay that way. Because if they crossed that line, for any reason other than clear self-defense or defense of their children, they would become irredeemable.

Having sex on the freezer they stored one of their "accidents" after disposing of the blood soaked, brain splattered, vomit inducing body kinda pipped them over that line already I think.

But hey I'm just having fun with the Allison story. No I don't want them to go on a killing spree. But Allison does need to replace the drink and pills with something and hopefully it won't be compulsive freezer sex.

i'm thinking this boost of confidence will result in overconfidence, and Donny gets himself killed (possibly with Alison's "help")...hopefully, they can show Allison truly growing next season.

Have the producers mentioned any character arcs (not the details, but that the clones each have one).?

definitely a great episode

We really haven't had anyone die this season other than Leekie, so I really feel that the finale will have some shocking ends. I keep thinking Felix will die, but after last week being drugged, I don't think that will happen. If we do get deaths, I like the idea of Donny being killed (mainly for his unstability) and as for one of the clones, I really don't see how Cosima lasts, despite having this whole season, that was part of the storyline. Let's just say I hope Rachel, Helena, Sarah, and Alison don't die. Also, I keep thinking Tony is Cosima's replacement so you still have that guy who I still think is coming back in Season 3.

Can you imagine praramedics knocking the garage door down because they got their privates stuck to the freezer?

Their roleplay is that Donnies flesh pistol is Allison's gun, and Allison's fuzzy clam is Leeky's face.

This stuff practically writes itself.

Last night was the first time since it became a network that I watched anything on The CW. The Critics Choice Awards were on and Tatiana was featured twice, once with Tony Hale and the other when she won her second Critics Choice award. Hopefully this could lead to an Emmy nomination but I don't really care anymore. I know she's awesome, I know the show is awesome, and I don't need a bunch of out of touch emmy voters to tell me otherwise.

Speaking of the show being awesome, tomorrow night is the season finale and I've been eagerly anticipating this episode for the entire week. There's been other season finales I've looked forward to in the past, but I don't think there's ever been one where I was more nervous about than the show airing tomorrow night. That's how much I've become invested in these characters and I'm afraid it's almost a little unhealthy. That, and there hasn't been any announcement on a Season 3 renewal yet (For some reason) so I really hope the finale is great, the show gets renewed, and it probably ends when the writers say they wanted to end it, which would be season 3.
