Orphan Black - Season 2 Discussion

That "Clone Disco" scene had to have been the most awesome scene of the whole series!

Nice ending and a good season all round.

I think my favorite scene is Cosima discovering Duncan's notes in the book...and also Rachel getting shot with the pencil (that was a "holy shit!" moment from me). Needless to say both scenes were watched again by me, just because they were so awesome.

I cried tears of joy when Sarah brought Helena to meet Cosima and Alison, that was just a great scene all around, even if the effects were a little transparent during the group "disco" scene.

I think we all expected there to be male clones at some point. I'm just glad they didn't go the obvious route and make it clones of Felix, that would have taken away from the character and made him less unique, I think.

All in all this was a great season, maybe not as tightly wound as Season 1, but that's to be expected I suppose. I just hope they get a greenlight for a season 3, because I'm not ready to say goodbye to this universe or these characters.

Either back to whatever country she's supposed to be from or Fort Bragg for more training.

Or, I thought later, they're sending her to the male clone facility to see if they can breed them with each other. They don't know she might already be with child.

What d'you suppose was with the can of nitrogen Helena left in the loft before she exited?

It's funny how rewarding those scenes are. I feel kind of silly because it's a bunch of made up characters played by the same person no less and yet I'm a total sucker for it. Also, it's easy to take for granted that there's not four different actresses there as the characters are all so distinct.

I did it find it weird they were at Felix's place, surely not the most secure location.

She rescued her "babies" before she burned the farm.

WOW!! I was wondering what that was, amazing stuff!

Clone party was awesome and I hope that all that warmth and family helps Helena survive whatever comes next.

My biggest shock was the little girl.. my jaw dropped as I recognized the child from Rachel's videos.

The whole thing was very attractive too, this show has been getting more beautiful as it goes. There MUST BE a season 3 surely!

Great finale. One thing I enjoyed was that the whole ep wasn't the rescue which it could have easily done. This show is comfortable with all different paces.

So Charlotte (?) is the first female clone not played by Maslany.

Cosima is still the coolest one, though. "You won science!"

I still wish Felix was the clone for more than the fact Jordan Gavaris is hot. He can act and would give him a lot more to do, plus then he finds out his reaction could be any of 100 different things.

And don't give me the excuse "But it would be so unlikely that the male and female clone would grow up together" because frankly having several clones live within miles of each other isn't unlikely?

Otherwise I love how quick this show grows. I was afraid the series would turn out to be like Kyle XY, have 11 awesome episodes but in the 11th they explain so much that the rest of the show is just silly drama.

Great episode but I think it would have been better if the episode was like 90 minutes to two hours. There just felt like so much to cover and they had to keep things to 45 minutes that some of the stories felt a tad rushed. For example, I really wanted to see more of Rachel with Kira, especially considering what happened last week. Also, the intercutting would have been so much better if they did spread it out, so you have the argument between Sarah and Sadler, she goes to Surrender to Dyad, and then you have the theme. It would have been a long teaser, but again, I wish the episode was longer to give the show that time.

Other than that, this was a great finale, and I love the direction the show is going in. It does make sense you would have male clones, and I think that dynamic as potential to be really cool next season. I also loved that Marion, so far, seems like a good guy, much in the same vain as Mrs. S.

As for the Clone dance scene, I thought I would hate it but I loved it. For one, it was a brilliant technical acheivement, but also, I liked how this episode ended on a high note. Yeah, Helena got taken, but I don't think anything bad is going to happen to her. Considering the crap everyone went through this season, we got to see happiness and the four of them together was amazing. I don't mind if a show goes to dark areas, but I love that there is some joy to it, some sense of feeling hope and at the end of the episode, I got that. I was afraid this finale was going to be violent and there would be many deaths occurring but that wasn't really the case. I can go into the hiatus with questions but not bothered by a really big cliffhanger.

I wish the producers would make a soundtrack to Orphan Black too. They didn't for Season 1, but I would buy one if they did. One of the most underrated assets of this show is the music, and I'm a fan of good musical scores. Orphan Black has some great and haunting music to it, and it also has so much Variety. Name another show where you can get 90s pop (Spice Girls), Psychedelic noise, in a good way (Helena's theme, though I could be wrong on that one), and end season 2 with a really catchy reggae tune. Please, make a soundtrack happen, Orphan Black producers.

As for this season, I was afraid about a sophomore slump when the season started, but those fears were gone after the first episode. I loved this season, and while I admit the controversy angle did get a little convoluted, this is still my favorite series on currently and I can't wait till season 3.

I'm guessing you completely missed the friendly smile that, once Sarah turned her back on her, turned into a sort of hateful expression when she gave Kira back to her at the Dyad Institute.

Maybe I did, but I didn't miss the final scene of the season between Sarah and Marion, where it did strike me like any scene between Sarah and Mrs. S. Maybe I just want to believe that Marion is a good guy. I don't have any reason to not believe it, based on last night's episode.

I'm still curious why they haven't been officially renewed for a third season. Seems very odd to me.

BBC America would be dumb to not renew this series. I too am surprised, but I heard it speculated yesterday that they might renew the series right before the nomination selections for the Emmys to give Maslany a bit more hype. I thought those ballots were already in so who knows.
