Why can't Yahoo make a movie?

A tv movie is basically 5 or 6 episodes.

Fox sliced and diced the Futurama movies into small seasons they could air in 20 minute (plus ads) segments.

10s of millions?

That's 20 million minimum.

Yeah, a movie on Yahoo is probably the best bet. A theatrical film is almost certainly impossible, and something on one of the networks is unlikely.

Doctor Who had a couple episodes that were released in Movie theatres globally simulcast with the British tv release.

Anything is possible.

That was for the 50th anniversary and Doctor Who has a massive audience. Community's audience is much, much, much smaller.

...And a movie.

Yahoo has three ways they go from here, if they like the money they are making.

1. More Community/Community spinoff.

2. Get Dan to invent something new.

3. Pick their favourite actor(s) from community, and give them/him/her their own vehicles/shows.

All of them getting their own shows?

I wonder what that would look like?

Gillian playing a lawyer, who wins cases by sleeping with Judges.

Joel working in a kindergarten, but he was only hired to reach things on the top shelf.

Danny is driving a cab that's really transporting drugs from one side of the city to the other for the mob.

Alison is an astronaut, that crashes on an alien world, and a nice family hides her, sorta like a reverse ALF.

Jim is accidentally voted as the worlds sexiest man of the year by Time Magazine. The show is then about a goof on dates with celebrities and super models, who are all emperors new clothes, telling fantastic stories about him as a man and a lover that never happened.

Richard reviews potato chips.

(Ken already has a new sitcom lined up and it looks awful.)

I skipped several episodes, but watched the last one.

Loved it. That was a great ending and I could still see the show coming back, minus some more people. Yet it felt very very finale. They did a great job.

Now let's get that movie made!

So I just watched the 8 bit video game episode.

At the end of the episode, Abed and Troy walk into the study room and find a baby.

How has it not occurred to me before that this is a continuity error? At this point they are banned from school property.

I assumed the reason this episode aired when it did was the availability of the Gilbert/Fring actor, but I'm surprised they didn't just move that last scene to another episode. Anyone know the story for why an episode obviously meant to air earlier in the season ended up in between Chang Dynasty eps?

I read somewhere that they weren't sure where in the season to do that one. Once they start that arc, there weren't many good choices. I agree that it should've been earlier. After all, they realize at the end of the previous episode that the dean has been replaced by an imposter and kidnapped. There's the 8-but episode, then they talk to a cop in the next episode.

Although it's not as jarring a problem for me since it's an episode that entirely takes place in one afternoon or evening. It's possible that they were strategizing over what to do next, weighing the pros and cons of what to do, especially since Abed had been removed from campus by police already at least once.

The end of the episode was supposed to be Abed showing Pierce the video game program again. Only this time he rewrote it to have the Pierce Avatar playing catch with Pierce's father (the disembodied head). Pierce's father would say "Nice catch son" every time Pierce caught the ball. After Pierce sees this he hugs Abed and thanks him.

On the last day of filming before the break Chevy Chase decided he was done and went home early. The set was struck the next day so they couldn't film the scene then. So they were stuck with no tag so they just decided to use that.

Unless the episode tag specifically references the episode, I usually don't worry too much about if they work in continuity of the current story line or not.

Not necessarily.

‘Community': Movie Would Be Next Chapter For Comedy Series

It has been a busy news day in Greendale land, starting off with comments made by star Joel McHale in an interview, indicating that the show is over as the cast’s contracts were all up after Season 6. “There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show,” he was quoted as saying.

The comments triggered a slew of “Community is cancelled” headlines, prompting McHale to tweet, “Easy sugar-bear, Community is not canceled,” and Yahoo to issue a statement that “we’ve seen tremendous value in our partnership with Sony and are continuing to discuss future opportunities for Community.”

I still think my spinoff idea will work of just haing the Dean there and doing a spinoff of "The New Adventures of Greendale".

Ewwwww. The Dean is NOT one of my favorite characters. He works (sometimes) with the group, but I don't know about centering the show around him, which this would basically do.

^ Agreed. Jim Rash is a lot of fun as a supporting character but they'd have to do a MAJOR overhaul on Pelton to be any kind of a series lead. Less forced "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a Dean!" comedy. A lot more real stuff.

If they did try to do another Community season, my feeling is that they should have it center around an entirely new cast, in a study group in Jeff's class.

I hope they do a movie.

To me Dean Pelton works a lot better in the 'Bureaucrat' role, when he's cutting costs and covering things up.
