On Tuesday, which version of ST:XI will you buy?

Thanks Broccoli. Um....heh, i don't even know what that means....but, i'll email my son and ask him to explain it to me! (i still live in the 80s. The 1880s!!)

OK, dumb question time.

Are ALL Blu-Ray discs "widescreen"? I bought a Blu-Ray player over the weekend so this is new to me.

I'm sitting here at work looking at the box (I got the Target Blu-Ray 3-disc set with the Enterprise model) and it doesn't have the words "widescreen", "letterbox" or "standard" on it, anywhere. What did I buy?

Went to Target on my lunch break and got the Special Edition DVD box with the Enterprise model, it's sitting in my car right now until I get off work... and I cannot wait!!! Someone tell me though, in the ads the model looked a bit like it might of been metal or pewter, or at the very least shiny. I know that I'll get to inspect it in a few hours, BUT, anyone have the model assembled? How's it look?

(I really can't wait)

Looks pretty good considering how small it is...

Yes, it's widescreen. The full screen format versions are usually on the cheap disc without extras. Don't worry... you got the nice widescreen version. I'd say all blu-rays are wide screen because they're made for HD tv's which are all widescreen size.

Thanks for the help! I was starting to wonder how I was going to make it through the day!

Wow, that model is really nice. I didn't go to Tarjay....anyone have a picture or link of how it came before it was opened? I am trying to figure out how they packaged it with a model.

The US must be one of the only countries left where they specifically sell these awful pan-and-scan versions.

I don't have a pic of it when I opened the box, but the ship came in pieces of: saucer (with discs enclosed), secondary hull and dorsal, both nacelles and separate pylons for those.

The pieces go together very well (and the directions warn to not try to disassemble it afterwards, as some clips could break). Plus, the pylons, nacelle and secondary hull assembly have colored dots or boxes to show what piece matches with what (kind of like a Tab A to Slot A assembly).

One tip: I took the disc out of the bottom of the saucer before attaching the secondary hull, so I didn't scratch that disc with the clip going in. Once in, you're OK, but I didn't want to scrape it on assembly.

I like the detail it has! It even has the inner parts of the front of the nacelles visible through clear blue plastic for the domes.

I watched the gag reel and started watching the movie at home during lunch, and that pre-credit sequence is still frigging amazing!

Went downstairs to the local HMV to buy the 2 disc dvd edition then saw 'The Badges' and the box for the blu-ray!!!

Came back with the 3 disc blu-ray & badges...

Now I guess it's time to get the PS3...I knew this would happen!

Order tracking said Nov 18th but I got it today as I am stopping home for lunch.

RAMA

Got the 2-disc standard DVD version. I don't own a PS3(I'm an XBox purist;))and haven't decided if I really want a BluRay player just yet, so the 2-disc DVD is more than good enough for me.

Blu-Ray with the badges. Have to admit, I was a little disappointed with the "display" that they came with. It's great... if you want to keep the Blu-Ray in there with it. Its felt but has a place for the Blu-Ray box to go along with it. Had they had a decent display, I would do just that. Now they'll end up in a drawer like someone else said. Should have gone for the Target Enterprise. Oh well. That was just the icing on the cake. After five months, I own the movie. That's really all I care about!

OK peoples, i don't know how this looks on DVD, but i can tell you on Blu-ray it fucking ROCKS!!!!!! O M G!! I cant believe how incredible this movie looks and sounds!!! I am so psyched!!!!!!!! Once i take my daughter to work i am blasting this sucker!!!
