Well some were just undefined shapes of coloured light, so its tough to get too attached to them. With TOS-R, quite a few ships have two different canonical appearances in the same continuity. I'm not sure there's a good reason why the Discoprise/NCC-1701(OG) situation is fundamentally different.
As far as not liking all of Trek...consider the Mustang. Most of the fans prefer certain generations over others. I like the Mustang II, but most motorheads don't.
By definition, CBS Trek can't violate canon, though it can have continuity errors or issues.Regardless of how I see it, Picard showing multiple variations of the Enterprise really isn’t any kind of violation. CBS Trek violates canon in a whole bunch of different ways, this simply isn’t one of them.
There’s bands I like and some albums by bands I like better than others.
All those albums were done by those bands though. Even with line-up changes, I usually consider bands to still be the same band.
Usually…
The Band of Theseus? Is it the same band if all the members have moved on?

Just texture pop in. Picard season 3's Titan has some vram issues.Regardless of how I see it, Picard showing multiple variations of the Enterprise really isn’t any kind of violation. CBS Trek violates canon in a whole bunch of different ways, this simply isn’t one of them.
The Band of Theseus?![]()

They already lampshaded that a bit when Pike orders the holography stripped out in DISCO S2.
I remember reading John Eaves designed the exterior with the thought that it could be turned into the TOS ship, with extra pylons to support the warp nacelles that could be removed, large impulse engines that could be replaced with smaller, more advanced ones, and no bridge dome. But that was kind of spoiled by the folks who made the CGI model making the pylons slant like on the TMP ship.It would have been surreal if over the course of SNW the Enterprise as depicted initially in DISCO gradually was "upgraded" until by the final episode it more closely resembled the Enterprise of TOS.
Is it the same band if all the members have moved on?
Lynyrd SkynyrdI can’t think of a band where all of the original members moved on but I *think* there must be one.
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Everyone who recorded the first two albums are dead. The only one still living from the 73-77 era is drummer Artimus Pyle, who hasn’t played for Skynyrd since 1991.
The last time the band had any semblance of the fire they used to have was The Last Rebel album back in 93. They still had four of the original band members then.Got to have someone to play Free Bird. Though, from my perspective, they aren't remotely the same band that they were in the 70's.

So…how about those controversial premises?

I imagine it was an update from Daystrom himself. It would have been surreal if over the course of SNW the Enterprise as depicted initially in DISCO gradually was "upgraded" until by the final episode it more closely resembled the Enterprise of TOS.
"Why are we making everything more primitive looking?"
"Advances in technology mean we no longer need so much active monitoring of ship's systems; everything's becoming simpler."
