My god if Bledsoe came back....:lol::lol:

I won't give up all hope. If Chicago can make the SB with Rex Grossman, the Pats can do it with a Tom Brady place holder.

I'm not so sure. If this was in the NFC, I might agree... but not in the AFC. Favre just became the best QB in the AFC East, Buffalo looks damn impressive (and, if Tom is out, just became my pick to win the division), and even if they manage to overcome the East competition, I think that, in spite of today's close loss, they will have to go through San Diego.

As a Pats fan, I am quite nervous.

Oh in no way would it be easy, or likely in any sense, but its possible. Brady is the man, but he is one part of a larger puzzle, and if they are as good as we think they are, the team should still be competitive for the year. Brady is great, but the reason the team was great was because of all the good parts around him.

Im pretty much in a wait and see mode right now. I still think a 10-6, or 11-5 season is possible for them.

I kind of come down on the side of karma when I heard about Brady's injury too. The Pats earned themselves a lot of bad karma last year, and it came back to bite them.

In fact, I'm surprised someone didn't but a helmet into Brady's knee last year, when he was still throwing the ball around in the fourth quarter with his team up by 28.

I don't take any enjoyment whatsoever in Brady's injury, nor do I take it as "karma". It's part of the game, so long as it's not incurred on a cheap shot. Which it wasn't. My beef with Brady comes from a completely non-football reason, so I'm not feeling strongly either direction on this.

As to games in progress.... looks as if the Bears are giving the Colts an awfully rough ride tongiht. Score at the start of the 4th qtr is 22-13, and the Bears' D is bringing it hard.

Well the reason for that was for those who doubted that their championships were legit after Spygate. It was a, are you gonna question us? Fine, we will kick you ass every week. Besides, its the NFL, you play to win, not to make the other team feel good.

I thought the Superbowl last year was enough to give the Pats and Brady haters some joy, but I guess it takes the guy being seriously injured to do that.

:vulcan: - isn't that a little melodramatic? Even so, don't waste your time trying to refute such attitudes. It's not worth it.

WOW how bout dem bears!!! I am really impressed with young Matt Forte. He may be the real deal RB they have been looking for. Also Orton looks great. I know thew Colts don't have the best D but still put me down as impressed.

I am being melodramatic yes....but I can no longer profess my man love for Tom Brady for the rest of the season.

I do not have the same man love for Matt Cassel....yet.

Broadway Brett is 1-0 with the Jets and I can`t believe it but we now have the best QB in the division. Its gonna be a great game next week, cause I can`t remember the last time we had a shot against the Pats and now I`m off to celebrate my Mets win over the Phillies.

I'm not a Tom Brady hater by any means. He went to Michigan after all.

And perhaps I was misunderstood, but I am genuinely surprised Brady didn't take a helmet to the knee at some point last year. All it takes is one defensive player to take personal offense to the Pats take no prisoners philosophy, and bam.

I'm certainly not happy that Brady is injured at all. Sorry if it came across that way.

i still dont think manning is the same.
and it will be interesting how well he does as the season runs on dealing with the agressive pass rush of some of the afc south teams.

and getting little tired of the woe is me show that young puts on when things dont go his way.

dont know what happened to the qb we saw in his rookie season who seemed to believe the team would win no matter what happened.

Matt Cassel is a great story. They guy never started at USC and barely got any playing time. At one point he got demoted to 4th string (behind Leinart, Booty & Hance) and switched to playing tight end. Now he is in his 4th season in the NFL. He played pretty good today but the Pats will definitely look for some veteran QB, though I am not sure if Simms is the answer.

I have no sympathy for the Rams, so I am glad they have a lousy team. They are traitors for leaving LA (yeah, I know they originally came from Cleveland, but I don't care about that ;) ).

Arizona actually managed to defeat the Niners on Sunday.

Of course, unless you're a Cardinals fan, this will not qualify as any sort of accomplishment.

Still, it's the kind of game they found ways to lose for years. Encouraging that they put the clamps on and held the ball until it was far too late for San Fran to do a thing. :techman:

Oh, that was not directed towards you really. More of a general statement.

They did say on ESPN last night, that one of the Pat's players was quoted as saying that they were informed that Matt Cassel was going to be their quarterback for the year.

He has an opportunity now. Hopefully he takes it and runs with it.

The names I am hearing most often for Brady's replacement are Chris Simms and Daunte Culpepper. Do the Pats fans here have a preference for either of them?

We were so excited about opening day and all. Planned our afternoon around the game, had pizza and beers ready to go. That lasted about 15 minutes.

The Pats are still above average but I'll miss that vaunted offense of theirs. That was fun to watch last year.

Here's hoping Matt Cassell pulls a...well...Tom Brady (or Kurt Warner) and makes a good run of it.

I don`t know about Culpepper. He is retired and I heard he retired because he was pissed off with the team owners for not giving him a chance to compete for a starting job in the preseason.
