NFL Discussion - 2013 Season

Damn, I hate the Chiefs actually looking like a real football team now. The Texans have the Ravens, Seahawks, 49ers, and Chiefs in four of their next five games. I guess I'm fixing to find out what kind of team the Texans really are. LOL

The Chiefs look pretty good this year and Alex Smith is performing better than I ever expected.
Agree, but lets keep in mind that it is still early.

Wasn't it 2 seasons ago that K.C. and Buffalo started out scoring like 40 points a game for 3 or 4 weeks, then tanked the rest of their seasons?

16 games doesn't seem like a lot, but you're right, it's a long season.

Yeah but it's how they have been winning that lends me to think these wins are no fluke. The Chiefs are kind of reminding me of the Alex Smith era 49ers. There defense is extremely physical and hard hitting and they don't turn it over that much on offense. They don't quite have the same talent on defense but they are pretty close. They are going to be a handful for opposing teams the rest of the season, especially playing in Arrowhead.

The Browns just traded Trent Richardson for the Colts' next first round draft pick.

And this is why the Browns are in a permanent state of rebuilding.

I could understand a smidgeon if he didn't fit in with the plans for the franchise moving forward, but if you're going to change coaches and GM's every 2-3 years, what's the point?

I hate DeMarco Murray so much...

:scream:

I don't know if it's Murray or the Rams run defense. Murray was absolutely stuffed last week. I mean don't get me wrong I'm happy to see the Cowboys offense show up for once and run the ball effectively. It makes a huge difference when the running game takes a little off Romo's plate. He played clean and didn't have to throw the ball a thousand times.

I really like Sam Bradford and I think the Rams are only a few drafts away from getting him the help he needs.

This hasn't been a good morning to be the losing team... 5 of the 9 early games have been blowouts, including scores of 31-7, 38-0, 30-9, 31-7, and 23-3.

I feel like someone in this thread was sticking up for Murray last week...

Unfortunately, I sat him on the bench in my fantasy league in favor of Arian Foster and Chris Johnson. Guess I'm the idiot. I'm losing that game big time.

I know we had discussed Murray. He had an average first game and then had trouble getting anything going against the Chiefs last week. I think it has more to do with the Dallas O-line. They have gotten somewhat better at pass protection but I really think they struggle at opening running lanes at times. It all depends on whether or not Murray can get that initial push or break tackles. That may explain why his numbers are in flux weak to weak.

Seahawks beat Jacksonville 45-17. Thanks to the Colts for beating the 49ers. :) I still am a little stunned we're at the top of the division this early.

The 49ers look terrible, and so do the Rams. Thursday night's game will have an early season smell of desperation. The loser goes 1-3.

Go Ohio teams! Both are up over NFC North teams at the moment.
At least the sting of my Packers losing to Cincy was lessened by seeing the Vikings lose at home to the lowly Browns.

Probably a good thing the Vikings are playing their "home" game in London next week.

Nice to see the Patriots getting their shit together on offense a little. I'm staying on the "WRs will get better, and then reinforcements will come back" bandwagon. Looks like the kids are getting a LITTLE confidence, which makes it all easier. They appear to have the tools, just also needed to get over the nerves. We'll see where it goes, then hopefully get Gronk, Vereen, and Amendola back, which should lighten their load a bit.

And I know we've played weak teams so far, but pretty happy with the defense's effort. They've helped by stepping up while the offense goes through growing pains...

I know it's still early, but I get the sense of Thursday being a "must-win" game for either team (hopefully the 49ers). What sucks is the 49ers have so many injuries, and now with this whole Aldon smith thing, it seems like they are in trouble. When is it too early to become concerned about a team? When that team is supposed to be a favorite Super Bowl contender, I think now is a good time to be worried. That loss yesterday sucked.
