NFL 2017 Season

I did one more batch of research.

Going back 20 years, there is more evidence of the AFC Patriots-Steelers-Colts/Ravens/Broncos - everyone else structure when you look at the Divisional playoffs.

Appearances in the last 20 AFC divisional rounds of the playoffs
Patriots: 14
Steelers: 9
Colts: 8
Ravens: 8
Broncos: 8

Titans: 6
Chargers: 5
Jets: 5

Chiefs: 4

Jags/Dolphins/Texans: 3

Raiders: 2

Power structure is pretty clear cut....

I didn't know the Vikings one (purple people eaters), but makes sense once you hear it. Rest I had.

As much as I don't want to, I'm taking the Pats in the Super Bowl too. I just can't shake the feeling that Foles is going to implode and Brady is Brady at the end of the day.

So did anyone participate in some kind of pool or spreadsheet for the super bowl? I did for $20.

Sure, i've got my superbowl squares. Don't love the numbers i got, though, so not looking great. Never know, though, things are funny sometimes.

So, rewatched the last Super Bowl last night. God, the first 1/2 or so of that sucked. Dropped passes everywhere, Brady missing wide open targets, a fumble, ugh. Crazy that they managed to come back in that game, they only played like 20 minutes of decent football. And more of the game I saw, more I'm going to miss Edleman this game; he was a monster last year. Then again, this year we have a Gronk, so that should help a bit. Cooks should also be a big factor, if the O-Line can keep Brady upright long enough for Cooks' route to develop. Malcom Mitchell also had a big game for a rookie, will be glad to have him back next season.

Ready for Sunday night...

I got two great squares in the SB Pool.

Patriots: 7, 8
Eagles: 8, 4

$100 a quarter.

Pats by 4.

Eagles front is better than anything the Patriots have faced yet. Eagles can also run the ball very well, and L. Blount will be highly motivated against his former team. But Eagles LB and secondary are average at best. And "run the ball, control the clock" won't work in the Super Bowl against the Pats. Pats will out-coach and out-QB the Eagles, as they usually do to every team.

But, it will be a tough, tough game and a lot of fun to watch. No blow-out by any means.

Yeah, but you know their entire game plan will be about neutralizing that rush by creatively getting the ball out fast in the quick passing game, chipping in protection with RB's and extra TE's, etc. They'll also likely screen the Eagles to death and use the running game as part of that strategy (NE has one of the best backfield units in the NFL...and they are all healthy now).

It will be a very tough game, and they'll have to make less mistakes than Philly...but Brady ain't losing.

My Superbowl squares are:

Pats 7, Eagles 8
Pats 9, Eagles 7

Looks like 1001001 and I both win on 7, 8.

Awesome to have 7s there but 8 and 9 aren't the most optimal numbers. Not as bad as last year though when I had a bunch of 5s and 2s.

Hilarious Jeopardy category, that's like my team in bar trivia night if I couldn't make it that week. :)

I would have gotten the 400, 600 and 800. For 200 I would have wrongly said "Play action".

Are they really putting Crisco on the telephone poles in Philadelphia?

Do they really have to baby-proof their entire city?

Yes, they are putting Crisco on the utility poles. Not that it really works.

They could always go the (giant) Slinky™ route
