NFL 2017 Season

I really don't care who wins this Super Bowl... the Patriots most likely will, and that's fine. I've resigned myself to waiting until the dynasty breaks up.
Matt Patricia is going to go coach the Lions, Brady will eventually age out (maybe two or three more seasons) BB will eventually retire, etc. The train will stop at some point, and then it will be some other team's turn.
The Jaguars look good, and I think that with a few tweaks here and there they will be regular contenders.

Not to mention McDaniels is likely to go and coach Andrew Luck and the Colts. That division should be tough for the next few years with him, Deshaun Watson in Houston, and Sacksonville. And who knows, maybe Vrabel does a good job in Tennessee. The AFC South is usually the laughing stock of the league, but not for much longer.

I think McDaniels' is taking one hell of a gamble that Andrew Luck ever fully recovers from his shoulder issues. There isn't a whole lot there in Indy beyond Luck.

Then he'll get the chance to build a team from pretty much the ground up. If he can borrow a cup of Belichick's satanic mojo before he goes, it could be the start of something magical.

Ironic considering their symbol is the horseshoe. Maybe they should go back to Baltimore and kick the Ravens out. I hear Wilmington wants a team.

Just going by memory here, but didn't Josh McDaniel head coach the Broncos (or someone) into the ground some years ago? I seem to recall he was terrible in his last HC gig. It could be better this time around, but until that actually happens, there's probably good reason for Indy fans to temper their expectations a bit.

The jury is certainly still out on Jacoby Brissett but it looks like there might be something there and McDaniels certainly knows him

I've spoken to a lot of Patriots fans about McDaniels who feel that it was his attitude problems and lack of interpersonal skills that soured things in Denver, as opposed to his game-planning abilities. Belichick went through the same thing in Cleveland during his time as HC there. McDaniels is older now and hopefully has learned from his previous experience.

Some of that, yeah. A lot of it was probably a young coach trying to just take Belichick's act to Denver a little too literally. Maybe this time, he'll be comfortable enough to let his own style shine through; think that's a mistake a lot of his coaching tree has tried. They're trying to imitate Bill, but aren't as good at it. Also doesn't work as well without ownership 100% behind you, and having the best QB in the history of the sport probably helps cover a few bad decisions as well

We'll see what happens. McDaniels was absolutely given far too much control at far too young an age in Denver, and him believing he could make something out of fuckin' Tebow was proof enough of that. However, that being said, Brady is effectively his own offensive coordinator in Boston, and his numbers with McDaniels as OC are terrifyingly similar to his numbers without McDaniels.

Of course, the possibility exists that this is all still Belichick playing the long game to ensure that Andrew Luck--if he ever plays again, which is a pretty big if--and the Colts can continue sucking out loud for a while, then McDaniels returns to New England to take over from the retiring Belichick.

^All part of our next big cheating scandal, Timby. Patriots got good so that people would want to hire our assistant coaches. They then intentionally sabotaged all those other teams, and the Patriots Dynasty extends into Brady's 60's. We've killed the Jets, Browns, Broncos, Texans, Chiefs, Penn State, Notre Dame, Saban lent a hand with the Dolphins, now we're going after the Colts, Titans, and the Lions. Maybe Parcells helped Belichick with the Cowboys, they're old friends. Had assistant coaches with the Ravens too, maybe that helped them fall apart. Now we've embedded a QB with the 49ers as well. Wait until the media gets a hold of this, Belichick's been playing an insidious long game with the league... :guffaw:

Chiefs trade is interesting, funny that they gave all that to Smith but just wouldn't commit to Cousins. Will see where Cousins goes now, plenty of teams could use a hand. Talk of the Jets, Browns are perpetually in need of help, I thought the Bills could have traded for Smith, so maybe Cousins makes sense there? Bills have a decent team that needs a better QB to take the next step...

Denver could make wring a little more life out of it's aging core by plugging in Cousins, as well.

This Alex Smith thing seems pretty weird.

I could see Cousins going to the Jets. Browns are probably going to draft Mayfield.

You might have something there! Hmmm... :shifty:

You said yourself Belichick sold his soul to Beelzebub, I'm just saying, all of that isn't outside the realm of possibility. No one knows the limits when the Dark Lord is involved...

That would be a hilariously deep plan. You'd have to take Trump's Deep State conspiracy theory and triple it to even get close. I'm not putting it past him, for sure, but hilarious nonetheless. Orders of magnitude above the checkers vs. chess analogy. Just picture:

Let's see; we'll be good for a couple years, then the coordinators will go out and sabotage some teams. Then I'll start talking up this McDaniels kid. he'll turn down a couple job offers, and eventually go to the Broncos. Everything will look fine, but then he'll draft Tebow. They'll fire him, he'll come back to me, turn down a bunch more offers, then go sabotage the Colts. Eventually, enough ex-coordinators will screw up enough teams that everyone will be a drooling mess, and then we can coast unchallenged for decades!

That's not just evil genius territory, or even 'sold my soul to the devil' issues, he may legitimately be the anti-Christ bringing about the End Days at that level of planning
