NFL 2017 Season

NFL announces new rule: players will be barred from "lowering their heads to initiate contact".
http://www.latimes.com/sports/nfl/la-sp-nfl-meetings-goodell-20180328-story.html

Not certain of what they mean by "lowering their heads", but it must encompass bending the knees to lower the shoulder pads as well as the head. Taken at face value, I don't see how this will work.

Are players now going to have to learn to tackle while standing practically fully upright? Will offensive players about to be tackled be required to remain fully upright? Will a quarterback who is about to be sacked be required to remain upright? Offensive players use "lowering" the head to protect themselves, likewise defensive players who are about to be blocked. This rule could inhibit players' ability protect themselves.

There is talk in the article about a fundamental change to the game. Well, it sounds ike that is exactly what is about to happen.

Yeah I would be surprised if this thing lasts through the pre-season. The first five million-dollar lawsuits against the NFL that arise from whiplash injuries because of this silly-ass rule will kill it quickly enough.

And his nibs RG3 just went to the Ravens! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

The gift that keeps on giving...

Dez Bryant.....CUT!

He has been declining stats wise and apparently refuses to adapt to his declining skill set......still a huge red zone threat though.

Interesting to see where he'll re-surface.

The Seahawks, who passed on Colin Kaepernick after he wouldn’t promise to not kneel for the national anthem, signed Stephen Morris according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and others. Unless you’re a big University of Miami (Fla.) football fan you might not be familiar with Morris, and for good reason. Morris has been bouncing around the NFL since 2014 and has never appeared in a game.

Uh oh, Jacksonville...

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2018/04/jaguars-buy-london-wembley-stadium

If my ownership interests were to include Wembley Stadium, it would protect the Jaguars’ position in London at a time when other NFL teams are understandably becoming more interested in this great city,” Khan said. “And the stronger the Jaguars are in London, the more stable and promising the Jaguars’ future will be in Jacksonville.”

Yep, this is similar to what Stan Kroenke did when he bought that big parcel of land in Inglewood, Ca. At this point, I doubt even a foolish vote by the city to give away even more public land to the Jags owner will change the inevitable. Though I suppose there is still time for the city of Jacksonville to do something stupid in the event Khan's bid is turned down.

No NFL team is moving to London, it's a logistical nightmare, this is just the Jags making sure nobody other then them gets to play there and make money.

25 years ago it was inevitable that an NFL team would be in Mexico City, 10 years ago it was all but done that the Bills would be n Toronto.

I'm seriously amazed that the Browns got Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb. They will still somehow be completely inept with their new talent.

Yeah, this is not unlike the Kroenke situation. Khan is attempting to lay a financial foundation that the league will find irresistible, just as Kroenke did in Inglewood. Khan knows that the less he needs from the league in terms of money, if he already has a place for his team to play that HE owns, his chances of getting league approval to move his team are practically a lock.

No owner spent money laying the groundwork for a move in any of the cities you mention. We all knew the league wanted to move back to L.A. for years, but nothing happened until someone got up off some cash. When Kroenke spent all that money on the Inglewood land, the St. Louis fans thought he'd never move, but that showed the league he was serious. These guys don't spend money without knowing they are spending it on something that will triple or quadruple (or more), their investment.

Assuming Khan's bid for Wembley is accepted, when he moves there, the rest of the league will be forced to adjust. NFL owners are among the greediest in sports. They don't leave money on the table. And from what I understand, the NFL is really popular in the UK. Think about it, when Khan moves his team there, he'll have an entire continent as "his" territory.

The only way he won't move to London is if the Wembley deal falls through or he pisses off Jerry Jones.

That Eagles kicker who trolled the hell out of the Dallas fans is going to be a hero back in Philly. One of the funniest draft moments I can remember.

This. Shad Khan isn't trying to buy Wembley Stadium to solidify the Jaguars future in Jacksonville. I can't believe anyone would buy that pile of horse shit he's peddling.
