NFL 2025: A new era dawns?

Remember when Jim Druckenmiller was the only first round QB of his draft? Went ahead of Jake Plummer. Or when Dan McGwire and Todd Marinovich were the only first round QBs in a draft that had Brett Favre.

Hard not to forget, considering he went to the 49ers. What a bust he was.

I looked his stats up. One start. Is that a record for first round QBs? Paxton Lynch has four starts. Dan McGwire had five. Andre Ware had six. Johnny Manziel had eight.

Yikes. That's even worse than I thought. I think Ryan Leaf and Demarcus Russell got more than a start and they were busts too.

Since the Packers are a publicly-owned team, they're required to show their numbers in a financial statement every year. And they made $432.6 million from revenue sharing last year. Think about that -- $432.6 million times 32.

Holy crap - how did I miss this?

One of the biggest mistakes Jolly Old Saint Elway made in 2021 was getting rid of Miller - he was the CORE of the Broncos defense. Now Washington just signed him?? Oh yeah! This is going to be a good year...

Now just hoping he's recovered well from his various injuries.

There's a video of Wilkins dancing without a walking boot and Raiders fans were jumping for joy about him being healthy again. Meanwhile, the Raiders front office will use that same video as evidence for termination of contract.

Treylon Burks suffers fractured collarbone. Imagine the Titans trading AJ Brown for a first round pick and then they use that pick on another WR -- you -- and you've struggled, underperformed and gotten hurt every season.

I'm still kind of curious about the recent (2023) inclusion of "zero" jerseys in the NFL now. Not entirely sure why they were never used in the first place and even more confused about "why now?" I guess maybe initially used for mascots and "honorary" non-playing members of the team, but now it's a part of the regular lineup and it's gotten quite popular to be zero. Maybe some players want to set more reasonable expectations for themselves.

The zero number gave jersey sales a big bump, I would imagine. The NFL does nothing unless it leads to them making more money.
