New to Who

Thanks for the info:) Still reeling from TGWW. You know it's been a long time since I watched a show that made me feel like an emotional wreck.

The God Complex brought more sadness! But Closing Time was hilarious! I died laughing when the Doctor told Craig he loved him and wanted to kiss, just so Craig wouldn't see the Cyberman:lol: And the store clerk lady thinking they were a couple! It was really nice to have a good few laughs:)

Regarding the ending, I totally knew River was the one who would kill him. Even back in The Time Of Angels, I just knew it!

In case anyone is wondering, which I doubt it because of the lack of activity. I finished season 6 but I'm taking a break due to OITNB. That and I'm holding off on season 7 because I'm not ready to say goodbye to Eleven, or the Ponds:(

Of course we're wondering :D

OITNB? (ETA: Oh, Nevermind, Orange is the New Black. I thought of it, but the first time I tried matching the letters, my brain told me they didn't match) :alienblush:

When you start back up again, You want the Christmas Special The Doctor, The Widow and The TARDIS and then the two sets of shorts (Night Shorts and Pond Life), before you do Season 7. Night Shorts is just some extra stuff, but, Pond Life is a direct prequel, if you watch the first episode of S7 without having seen Pond Life, you may be a bit confused

Oh, and the Store Clerk that thought Craig and The Doctor were a couple, played a Villain during the 5th Doctor's tenure in the Classic Series, so, she was real fun for long time fans of the Classic Series to see.

Doctor Widow and Wardrobe was kind of "meh" especially compared to Carol. It's also interesting that Amy and Rory both kind of got sidelined in both "Carol" and this, which seem to mainly continue the trend from most of the other Christmas specials (as well as the 2009 specials), which also were sort of one-shot companions played by guest stars, or 'companion lite'. Although Donna from Runaway Bride eventually became a full-time companion in season 4, and Clara plays big roles in Snowmen, Time of the Doctor and Last Christmas.

I've already watched the Christmas special. It was very meh. In fact I'd say it's my least favourite episode so far. I LOVED Pond Life! The Ood part was my favourite. I could have continued with season 7 and waited on Orange but I'm not ready, I mean really not ready to say goodbye to Eleven and the Ponds:( But at least there are a whole bunch of novels to devour!

Do what we did, spread them out over a few weeks. in the end, the departure of the ponds will be a punch in the stomach no matter what you do.

If that's how bad it is when Amy and Rory leave I can only imagine how messed up I'll be when Eleven regenerates. I'll probably have to buy a tub of ice cream to cope!

It's also in the nature of Doctor Who sometimes for old Doctors to reappear and team up with their future selves (Which happens-from their POV-before they regenerate). Happens a few times in the classic series, and Smith has his own story with other Doctors coming ("Day of the Doctor"). Tennant also has one with Peter Davison (Who played the fifth Doctor), a short fun mini episode called "Time Crash". Funny also is that in real life Tennant married Davison's daughter as well, so Davison is the father in law of another Doctor.

So yeah, in the future it's entirely possible Smith will return and team up with Capaldi or other predecessors or successors to the role. It's usually only done for anniversaries though so the next team-up may be way off...

I think the only Doctors who haven't been in some sort of multi-Doctor thing (barring stock footage or body doubles) in the series proper are Sylvestor McCoy & Paul Mcgann, although that does happen in spin off media.

I was just going to say McCoy is too old now (and to a lesser degree, McGann) but then I realized McCoy didn't do his regeneration until '96. Yes, that's almost 20 years ago now and he's getting on a bit, but he could almost pass. And of course McGann's regeneration scene happened relatively recently, so he's got plenty of time if they decide to use him.

Or they could do something like with Troughton in Two Doctors, where they just kind of ignore it (more or less). Although I think McCoy walks with a cane now.

Plus there's still a bit of mystery over what's up with a certain character in Day of the Doctor, but I don't want to spoil too much for someone new to the series.

Yea, when I read that, my first instinct was to write, "But, in the Two Doctors....."

"Time Crash" kind of explained the age problem by saying that being in the older Doctor's (Tennant's) presence 'shorted out the time differential' for the younger Doctor (Davidson). So Tennant's Doctor (and therefore we) perceived Davidson's Doctor as he would have been had he never regenerated and lived on normally up to Tennant's time, centuries after his own. Once away from Tennant, Davidson's Doctor would snap back to his earlier age.

Change is part of the show, Doctors come and go as do the companions

I have a tendency to get extremely attached to TV characters. Case in point, it took me ten years to accept Tara Maclay's death. Ten years! I know the Doctor technically won't be dead but he won't be the same. It's bad enough to loose one character but three in one season? Hell. Pure. Television. Hell.
