New to Who

Well that was random. Until the end. Amber:) I feel like SHIELD is a show where tons of awesome beloved people just guest star: Lucy, Amber, now drawing a blank here.

About The Horns of Nimon, I would place pretty safe bets on all the human planets in that story being lost Earth colonies ala the planet Macros from The Macra Terror.

for those new to Who, Nimon is from Season 17, commonly referred by Who historians as "The Time Travelers Guide to the Galaxy" because the script editor/head writer for that season was Douglas Adams.

Yes that was a sad twist of events, poor Oswin.

Now, in DOAS Rory mentions that he is 31. Yet he and Amy went to high school together. The third time the Doctor comes back for Amy she is 21. So exactly how much time has passed between then and DOAS? A bit confused.

They traveled with the Doctor for quite a while it seems. Or he left them alone for quite a while. Or both and neither.

Such is the life of the Doctor and the Ponds.

A few things:

This season is pretty much setting up the 50th anniversary of the show (although there was a long hiatus between the old/classic and the new/2005-now version), the franchise itself started in 1963. Name of the Doctor and Day of the Doctor are the biggest examples of this, but things start a bit early with AOTD, with many of the Daleks in the Asylum being the older models from the original show. The story also kind of brings back the golden RTD era Daleks as the main Daleks of the show, with no real in-show explanation.

Dinosaurs on A Spaceship also has few interesting things as well-David Bradley, who played Solomon, and also known for his Harry Potter role as Angus Fitch, played the role of William Hartnell-the original Doctor-in the 2013 TV movie An Adventure In Time And Space. It's written by Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss, and tells the story (dramatized of course) of how the show came to be. Plus there's a cool cameo you might like :)

JG, you're getting pretty close to this point now, so I'm gonna leave this link here. DO NOT click it - don't even glance at it - until you've viewed the episode in question (preferably right after). I'm pretty sure you're gonna have a box of tissues beside you already.

This was something they ran out of time to actually film, so they made it a narrated storyboard instead using the voice of one of the main actors.

The Angels Take Manhattan - Epilogue: P.S.

You know, I saw series 7 again recently, and its a rather dissapointing 50th anniversary series, if it was meant to be that. Its not the lack of nods, its the lack of celebration towards those elements. Its like Moffat consciously underplayed the important of that year - although the BBC certainly helped, with its budget cuts that year that resulted partially to the splitting of the season.

Seriously, the BBC screwed up that anniversary year. Booh!

Still beat the 30th anniversary so-called "celebration" in 1993 by a country light-year. And at least Doctor Who got a 50th anniversary celebration (and what a celebration!) at the end of the year. Star Trek getting a worthy one next year, otoh, is looking less and less likely...

Utter nonsense.

In The Power of Three, Amy states that she and Rory believe they've been travelling with the Doctor for ten years, subjectively. It's not been that long for the rest of the Earth, but the Ponds think they've aged a decade. Rory stating his age as 31 would be in line with that, but perhaps it should have made Brian do a double take...

So um... Ouch. R.I.P. Amy, the girl with the feisty personality and firey red hair. The Girl Who Waited. Dear sweet puppy dog-like Rory, the Last Centurion. Bye bye Ponds:(

I wonder what Brian told Amy's parents. Did Amy and Rory ever tell him about River?

I always hated "the Ponds" joke and really it went on too long and yet again Moffat changed the rules about the Angels.

There was more script, that wasn't filmed, but someone animated it.

^ Oi! I already posted that above!

And here's one more I'll post, a bridge between this episode and the next. The Doctor... well, he doesn't take Amy's death well. At all.

I was disappointed with River. She was their daughter and yet the Doctor seemed more upset over their deaths.

Regarding that clip, poor Doctor:(

I'm know Clara will join him soon but I kind of wish he would have gone back and brought Craig and Alfie as new companions. He and Craig were so funny together!

Will I like Clara? Thoughts on Clara please.
