New StarGate series Prime Video.

I don't really see where they need a Star Trek, or Star Wars, they're doing fine with things like The Boys, Rings of Power, Vox Machina, ect.
I know nothing about Vox Machina, but The Boys final season ended with a whimper and the Rings of Power is not turning any heads.

I saw a tweet about the cancellation of the new Stargate show saying, "They'll probably cancel it, they need to allocate ROP funds." While I think there might be other reasons behind the cancellation, it's pretty clear that shows like Wheel of Time are canceled by Amazon to secure ROP budgets.

If they were going to do another version, I think a good new direction would be the program finally going public. Based on the 3 different shows there's thousands of people aware of the program and eventually that would get out to the general public. I think that might lead to some interesting storytelling there.

Maybe the new version can be a little less military. Maybe.
I wouldn't want it to be less military really, it's one of the things that sets it apart from... that other science fiction series about going on away missions.
I don't know how they could possibly do Stargate without a strong military involvement in the storyline. I mean, what would they use instead? FedGov civilians and contractors?

The govvies would sit around all day in meetings talking about what to do with the thing (while the contractors actually do the work) and the first time they (the contractors) actually get it open (if they are allowed to get it open by successfully negotiating the bureaucracy and justification paperwork set up by the govvies), hordes of Jaffa and their Goa'uld masters would pour through the portal, get a foothold in whatever 60-plus-year-old office building where they were working, followed by a swift conquering of the entire planet.

The End.

Yeah, not feeling it...

Huge Gater here, was really looking forward to the new series so of course it gets axed. I was really curious what Martin Gero was going to do with the Stargate program and how he would explain Atlantis and Universe not getting proper endings. Oh well

Ironically, Atlantis was the Stargate franchise's attempt at being non-militaristic. I remember an interview with SG-1's military advisor just before Atlantis came out where he was asked if he'd be working on Atlantis or if it would have its own military advisor, he said Atlantis wasn't going to have a military advisor because its focus was more civilian heavy than SG-1. Though really, that had just as much of a military presence as SG-1 did, but whatever.

Atlantis tried to give the show an international feel too with it being an international expedition but that aspect was relegated to the background pretty quickly

Well, yeah. That's how Twitter works. Squeaky wheels come to believe they drive the cart.

Indeed. But thankfully, the squeaky wheels often indicate there's something broken that needs to be fixed.

Yes, this post was written to indicate that comments that might sound intelligent and deep are basically smart ass and don't make sense.

Squeaky wheels don't think. They are just that. Objects. Now, people commenting how they feel.... They think there driving the cart.

Yes, that was also me trying to be as smart ass and glib as the post I am quoting. It's also me showing that rhetorical nonsense adds nothing to a thread. Like my post does right now.

Anyway, good to know fans are voicing their opinions. As humans are allowed to do. It's also bed time where I live and I have work in the morning. Looking forward to see if I have any mod warnings or thread bans when I'm having my morning coffee.

It might be interesting if it weren't about a team going on missions to explore new worlds, but were just about an Earth united with the galaxy through the Stargates, and what the civilian characters' life is like in such a world. We'd learn about the alien worlds through diplomatic interactions or trade or tourism, or through the aliens coming to visit or immigrate to Earth.

This, why isn't anyone keen on this?
