I'm finally watching Enterprise. I was able to get the dvds for sale. I'm on "Desert Crossing." So far, ive really enjoyed this series. It really reminds me of TOS. Much better than Voyager. I know nothing about this series. never got around to watching it when it first aired.
I was shocked to see that the Ferengi actually showed up in an episode. You've gotta be kidding me! Please don't tell me that Q or anyone else from the 24th century show up before they should.
I'm not really into the temporal cold war much. But i like episodes like "Civilisation" and "Detained" that build up to the idea of the Prime Directive.

the ferengi were a mis step but glad that overall you are having fun watching the series and welcome to the forum.
:)
and no q dosnt show up.

Yeah, its a great series, and I can assure you that it gets even better through the rest of the seasons. I think you'll find after viewing all the episodes, that ENT is more "grounded", and "reality" oriented than any Trek series since TOS.

Enjoy.

I thought the Ferengi episode fit well.

They, at Archers orders to do so, managed to stay out of sight of the Fed for quite a long while after that. To me, that serves to show just how deeply their first encounter with the new kids on the block, (Humans, 'Archer' in particular) affected them.

It would be like me sternly shooing a stray cat and it kept running away until it reached the next time zone!

Another nice thing about this series, so far, is very little technobabble. Voyager about burned me out on star trek, with all the tech-heavy episodes. Enterprise really has the heart of TOS in it. More adventure/exploration.

Yes, it does minimize the technobabble. And what they do have is easy on the ears!

I particularly like the characters and I think the chemistry is the best since TOS. There's also a lot more genuine humor here that flows naturally not just from the characters, but the actors handle it well too -- the best since the '60s. :)

Archer is turning into my favorite captain since Kirk. Nice to have an adventurous captain again. I like Trip alot. T'Pol is even growing on me. I'd like to read the ENT-R novel "The Good that Men Do" but I should probably finish the series first. All i know about that novel is that it takes place after the series.
So far my favorite episode has been "The Andorian Incident." Talk about a shocker of an ending. I can tell these vulcans are different than the vulcans we see later in the 23rd century.

Keep watching! In season 4 there's a 3-part Vulcan arc you'll enjoy.

And "The Good That Men Do" is a response to the "finale." Don't know how much you've heard about that, so I'll just let it go at that.

nope, don't know anything about the end of the series. I'm now starting into the second season. Shockwave was an average 2 parter. I'm just starting "Carbon Creek."
I like the little touches, like Archer in gold, and trip in red. The uniforms are pretty neat.

Welcome to Enterprise fandom indianatrekker! Who's your favorite character so far? (Mine's Trip.)

If you don't like it when species appear too soon, skip the episode Regeneration, it might make your head explode.

I'm just starting to watch "Maraudars." Season 2 is starting out pretty good. I really liked "Minefield" and "Deadstop." Cool to see the Romulans show up. I didn't mind that at all, unlike the Ferengi appearance. At least with the Romulans, the producers kept the Canon right by not having any visual contact with the Romulans. "Deadstop" felt more like a twilight zone episode.
I'd say my favorite character is a tie between Trip and Reed. When the series first started, there was zero information on Reed. But lately, he's really grown as a character. I'd say my least favorite character is Mayweather. I've never seen a regular character have so little character development.

Well, there is one huge canon issue in Minefield. They have a cloak. When Kirk et.al. run into them in Balance of Terror, they're surprised to discover the Romulans have this technology.

Surely Archer would have mentioned it in his ship's log and it's not the kind of intelligence on an enemy that would be forgotten within a hundred years.

So, there should NOT have been a cloak around that ship.

Krankor, I can see you're new to the board, but you can't call fellow posters dumb. That's flaming and I've warned you as such. You might want to have a read of the board rules to get a feel for what's okay and what's not.

Any comments or questions about the the above warnings can be made via PM.

Yeah, thank god there wasn't very much of having races discovered from the series set in a later timeline. Until you get to Regeneration, and I'm pretty sure you can guess who stars in that one just due to the title name. There's a few more decent prime directive episodes, a particularly great one in my eyes with Dr. Phlox.. very good, and not the usual Trekian solution of solving everything in a way everybody somehow benefits. But for the most part, all the alien races were just generic with a few small facial prosthetics thrown on and wearing some type of tribal garment. Oh, the aforementioned Romulans, but you don't actually see them, nor do they speak.. you see a ship like once or twice for a few seconds. Later on, there's some Andorians and Tellarites, but because they were so rare in Trek media history, this was a series where they actually BELONGED, and should have been involved a LOT more.

indianatrekker26, glad you enjoy the show. I feel I have to warn you, after a good start season 2 becomes quite mediocre with a number of bland episodes. Keep watching though, as the episodes become a lot better near the end of the season. Once you've reached that point, it's a rollercoaster ride through excellent Star Trek.

And Regeneration rocks, despite it being a shaky idea in the first place.
