Never noticed details in the Kelvinverse films

Sure! Here's the school bus in Into Darkness:

Thanks, Dan.

One can only imagine what the timeline divergence did to Finnegan that caused him to stop being a jackass (and lose his accent).

Perhaps he got slapped down by a superior officer on his first posting (that is, he was invited to an interview by the captain, found out that the captain knew about his shenanigans at the Academy, and made it clear that if he did that, he'd be dealt with in a harsh manner.)

Looked like the traffic was driving/signed on the left.

Rubbish film.

Hmh? When Khan crosses a street like that, we see up close how the markings work. It's two lanes per direction, right hand traffic, and those transverse lines across a lane don't mark where you should stop before taking a turn, they just sort of cross the lanes at random.

The notched ghost island in the middle of the top-down shot is for right-hand traffic lining up for a left turn, now isn't it?

Most likely. People like Finnegan usually need to be taken down a peg.

One would hope that even Finnegan in TOS matured after the Academy, given that Kirk was remembering basically a college bully.

A college bully he could do nothing to stop, because Finnegan was an upperclassman and Kirk was an underclassman (in the DC comics version of Kirk's first year at the Academy, Finnegan warns him that if he even throws a punch at him, he'll be automatically kicked out.)

Grunbeg usually makes an appearance in Abrams' productions, I believe.

Yeah, so I've heard. My point was that in both of his appearances, he played characters that Kirk didn't like in the alternate reality (Stepdad) or the prime reality (Finnegan, who doesn't interact with Kirk in Beyond. He does make an appearance in The Assassination Game, though, and is every bit the (gullible) bully (which was written before Beyond and Into Darkness.)

So, Finnegan would already be more advanced in his career. Hopefully he grew up.

^Well, one thing that Kirk did in said comic book to get back at Finnegan (which unfortunately wasn't canon) was to interrupt him during his Kobayashi Maru test by using the transporter to remove his uniform and underwear, leaving him butt naked in the captain's chair (although that didn't mean that he actually got to beat the tar out of Finnegan in reality while at the Academy.)

Or quite possibly, he and Kirk never met (the novel Finnegan being another of the family), as Kirk's Academy entrance was delayed by Kirk's delinquency, pre-Pike's recruitment speech.

Old stuff I posted in 2014 (I think), but might be of interest in this thread if anyone missed it then. The "powerwall" graphic from Starfleet HQ in Star Trek Into Darkness, packed with a ridiculous number of Star Trek references:

Is there a way to see individual sections of it a little at a time, or a list of everything included? When it blows up, it blurs.
That's as good as the quality gets, Im afraid. It's composited and perspective-corrected from a BTS video.
