Never noticed details in the Kelvinverse films

Indeed. Although of course the flooring is generic off-the-shelf stuff, while the shirt pattern doesn't actually match it in detail.

What one makes of it is another thing. An opening to argue there's no in-universe connection? A non-issue? An opening to argue there is an in-universe connection, with in-universe artistic liberties? All the options are open. And none need be taken. It's simply one of them cool things about that movie.

yeah a quick google search led me to this interview with michael kaplan in which he tells us he based the uniform fabric on the floor of the set. though i really hope in-universe, starfleet ship builders and/or uniform designers aren't that precious.
