Netflix comedy "Space Force" w/ Steve Carrell! 1st Trailer!

I haven't started it yet but I hope that it's better than The Office. I just couldn't get in to that one.
I can understand that. It took me two tries to watch it and I didn't give it a second chance until after I watched all of Michael Schur's other excellent shows (yeah, I know he wasn't a showrunner there, but he was a regular writer).

If it helps any, people aren't regularly dicks to each other (well, aside from Dan Bakkedahl's character but that's to be expected) and, while Carell's Gen. Naird isn't Michael Scott by any means, he does share some of his some of his sarcasm and obtuseness.

Was this show suppose to be humorous?

I found it to be a painfully unfunny slog and gave up part way through the second episode.

I guess everybody has a different sense of humor because I thought the show was absolutely hilarious. So many funny moments. The Trump joke in episode 1 was great. "We gotta do it. POTUS tweeted boots on the moon by 2024. Well, he tweeted boobs on the moon but we think that was a typo." That was so funny. All the chief of staff scenes with the generals were great. A great spoof of the military with the way they would dig on each other. And the entire chimp scene in episode 2 was hilarious. There were clever Trek jokes too. "I wish were had a tractor beam." "We don't because they don't exist." And just a lot of clever moments too.

Yup, I loved watching the different services dig at each other and it was perfectly natural for Naird and Grabaston go at each other with the creation of the Space Force. The only shocking thing is that no one said "the chair force."

In the very first episode we meet three very stupid persons: Senator Schugler, Rep. Pitosi and Congresswoman Anabela Ysidro-Campos. And Anabela character was, like, total idiot.

It's not something you see very often these days on TV. Brave, very brave.

After three episodes, I’m done. It’s not very funny. Or funny. I did laugh at the monkey eating the dog.

And I’m a little over mediocre white man rising to a position of authority without any sort of commentary on that. Why is Naird there? Is everyone an idiot? Like... everyone? Is he there because, gosh darn it, he means well?

If this show explored the terrible system that rewards male incompetence, sure. But, they did that in The Office is a more believable way.

Pass.

I was really looking forward to this, but it was a massive letdown. There were a few laughs here and there but most of it missed the mark. It's a shame because there's a ton of potential in the premise, and the cast and showrunners are superb. Oh well, maybe they can improve in season two, and if so I'll give it another chance. Otherwise, this was pretty dire.

i've decided that i like it! starting episode 6 now.

I started watching it. I'm in the middle of episode 3, not enjoying it as much as I hoped. Not that funny.

I managed to binge S1 the last couple days. Way better than I thought it might be from the promos.

I always loved Carell, but Malkovich really makes the show.

S2 might happen late 2021-early 2022, so there's that to look forward to.
