NBA 2014-2015 Season Discussion

What did Cousins do that has Gary Payton so upset?

"Leave your agent alone"? What does that mean?
There were some reports in the last couple of weeks saying that Cous was not in favor of hiring Karl. Sounds like Peyton is implying that Cous' agent may be influencing him to go negative about Karl. This may be what Cousins was responding to in the quotes I mentioned in my O/P. Of so, good move by Cousins. It refutes the talk about him not wanting Karl while also letting it be known that he is still the boss of him.

And for the record, if this guy ever shakes loose from the Kings, oh would he look good in purple and gold.

Now there's a scary prospect.

However, I think Cousins genuinely likes Sacramento. I'm looking forward to some playoff years ahead, and if acquisitions/drafts are done right, maybe another swing at the Western Conference title and--god forbid--a championship...!

Hey, a guy can dream, right?

As a Celtics fan, I'm in shock that they are actually in the playoff hunt. They traded their two best players for the future possibility of having good players, and they're still only 1 1/2 games out of 8th. Celtics making the playoffs would be a minor miracle.

I'd almost rather them be the worst team in the league.

^There are two reasons for that. They play in the Eastern Conference, and they're coached by Brad Stevens, who's probably won more with less than any other coach in basketball--and this is coming from a Butler alumnus.

Duncan to Boogie for a dunk! A highlight involving players from my two favorite teams in the all-star game... :)

Westbrook is not human.

^I'm sick of it, too. I feel bad for Rose, but I'm also tired of the seemingly endless drama that surrounds him and his availability for anything basketball-related. Depending upon the type of surgery he undergoes, he may be back in 6-8 weeks; however, he may also miss as much as 6 months. Whatever the outcome of his surgery, I hope a decision about his status for the remainder of this season is made quickly and decisively.

Meanwhile, the Bulls need to start remaking their roster in a way that doesn't hinge as much on Rose's availability, much like what the Blazers did after Oden and Roy got hurt. Portland made a conscious choice to build around LaMarcus Aldridge; Chicago needs to make a similar choice--if that means paying Jimmy Butler so that they have someone else who can carry the load until Rose can play again, or trading assets like Noah in order get either talent or draft picks back, so be it.

I agree 100%. I love D-Rose, and wish him the best, but Chicago can't depend on him anymore.

If the Bulls are considering this, they should move to trade Rose, and I mean as soon as possible. Let someone else gamble on his health. I'm sure that when he recovers from this latest, there will be some takers. They could net at least a first rounder as long as he completely recovers.

BTW, 6-8 weeks with a torn meniscus? It had better be a huge rip.

BTW, also; that MVP...a bit premature.

Funny story

I'm sure Greg Popovich is busy learning Russian for his next sideline interview.

Chinese might be better... :p

Cool Kobe stat...

Looks like the Spurs are rounding into playoff shape right about now. Next stretch of games will tell the tale.

My question about the Kings is will Boogie be back and will it matter with Karl at the help and a team concept in place?

Uh huh. With Kevin Durant maybe out for the season and in any case, returning perhaps too late to turn the Thunder into the well oiled machine it needs to be to be a real contender, the table would seem to be set for the Spurs to repeat as champions for the first time. Lets see if they do. And don't get me wrong, I think they should, but...lets see if they do.

BTW, in 2001 the Lakers were looking to repeat and Kobe was injured late in the season and had to sit out several games. He returned with, I think, about 8 games left in the season. The Lakers then put together the greatest playoff run in NBA history. Something to strive for, Mr. MVP. :)

^I think he was talking about the Lakers and Nick Young.

You are a better detective than I am. :)

In a way it's too bad. Their ball movement improved according to coach Nick.
Without getting into the question of whether or not you've confused 2015 with 2001, what Nick probably really meant was that (after Kobe's injury) the ball movement to him was better, meaning more shots for Nick -- most of which he missed. ;)
