MLB Season Discussion - 2013

Phillies superstar Ben Revere is currently sporting a .471 OPS.

Hell of a fuckin' trade there, Rube.

I'm not sure what's happening with Revere. He had posted good numbers with the Twins in the couple years he was with them.

No, he really didn't. In 2011, Revere posted a 76 OPS+; last year, it was 89. So he wasn't really even anywhere near league average. Revere essentially has one core tool -- run really fast -- and beyond that, he's a slap hitter. It astounds me that with nearly 1,200 plate appearances in his career, he has yet to hit a single dinger.

Ok, by good I just meant better than he's doing this year (and better than some Twins are doing, save for the homeruns department). I don't follow OPS+ stats or what averages are.

Why does Buck Showalter have such a weed up his ass? He's ordering EVERY ball that comes off the field checked, apparently he thinks that CC Sabathia's doctoring the ball.

Julio Teheran has been looking better with every start. Hes got a nice one going tonight and the Braves have only lost one game he has started all year. It will be interesting to see what happens to him when Brandon Beachy gets back. There is some talk that with the Braves recent bullpen injuries Teheran may find himself filling the role of Eric O'Flaherty in the 8th inning role.

I'm glad I live in Twins territory (ND) these days. Means I'm only subjected to the Mets once or twice a month.

Starting to get worried about Ike Davis. He's really struggling out there. :(

Davis has never walked nearly enough to justify his absolutely atrocious strikeout rate, and his "try to pull every pitch he sees" approach just won't fly. He's a one-trick pony who has been thoroughly exposed at this point, and he basically needs to blow up his batting stance and strike zone judgment and start from scratch.

Wow, thats twice in the last 5 days that Evan Gattis has hit a pinch hit homerun to tie the game for the Braves. Did it lastnight with 2 outs in the ninth.

The way the Twins have been playing lately, I almost wish I didn't live in Twins territory. Eight straight losses. I don't think they could even beat Houston right now.

Woah that throw Phillips made to first in the Cubs/Reds game today was dang slick. Never saw anyone get a standing ovation for -not- getting the runner out. ;)

Gattis may have taken a backseat to McCann but he is making the most of his playing time. Pinch hit two out two run single to put the Braves up in the eighth.
