Exclusive virtual tours of Yankee Stadium http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/33...f-new-yankee-stadium-via-playstation-3.jhtml#

and Citifield http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2009/01/13/exclusive-virtual-tour-of-new-mets-stadium/ from MLB 09 "The Show"

I gotta say that Bailout Park is a thing of beauty and looks better than Yankee Stadium. YS looks bland to me while Bailout Park looks like a good place to watch a game. I can`t wait to go to Queens and see if the place looks as good in person as it does in the trailer

i see mark mcgwire received less votes this year than last.anyone think he will get in hall?

I don't think McGwire will be voted in by the BBWAA. I do think, however, that the Veterans' Committee will elect him.

I'm looking forward to the vote tallies in 2013, though. That's when Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Roger Clemens come up for eligibility.

About damn time Jim Rice made it. Ricky Henderson was a lock, of course, but it's annoying that it took the BBWAA this long to select Rice.

My folks and I will probably drive out to Cooperstown this summer for the induction ceremony. :D I visited the Hall of Fame for the first time last year, but this is a special occasion.

Congratulations to both guys. :techman:

really! that should be interesting.if i was a writter i wouldn't vote for any of them.:)
btw, aren't we all going to die in 2012 anyway?

Well, you know, it just took 15 years of retirement for Rice's stats to change.

There's nothing set in stone about how they're supposed to vote. The baseball writers have egos and agendas that they wear on their sleeves. They won't vote for players who are automatic locks because they don't want them to have a higher voting percentage than Ted Williams, or won't vote for them in the first year of eligibility because Cy Young didn't get in his first year. A lot of pettiness with the writers. Plus there are a few out there, like Corky Simpson, who are just plain idiots.

Sox sign Youkilis to a 4 year/ 40 Million dollar deal. Between the Pedroia deal and this one, the Sox are getting a steal I think.

no, and what's the rush? The market for him just isn't there, between what he wanted for money, and the Type-A FA requiring the signing team to give up a 1st round pick. The Sox can just wait until his demands get a lot lower, and then snag him for a few million and short years (1-2 max). Boras screwed Tek on this one, could have had a 10 million dollar deal by accepting arbitration!

To put it to you this way: why pay for Tek, plus give up a 1st round pick, when I-Rod is also a free agent, requires no draft pick, and had better numbers last year?

That's why the Sox are waiting.

They signed Bard to a non-guaranteed deal, so if they just bring back Tek, they can have both, or if they get their 'catcher of the future' in someone from Texas or maybe Arizona, they can still bring back Tek to teach them the ropes, and just cut Bard.

They've got it covered either way.

Well evidently John Henry is going to talk with Tek tonight, so this may be coming to a close....

And in other news, Curt Schilling is now gonna be one of the co-hosts on Boston's WEEI "Big Show" radio program. Thats gonna be hilarious.

i was just wondering about veritek cause he,s kinda the leader over in boston and he brings a lot more to the team than stats.he,s a great clubhouse guy.i think it would hurt the sox not to resign him, although if they can get him cheap.......

Citi Field looks absolutely sweet. So does Yankee Stadium. I bought a new camera just so I could take pictures of the things. I can't wait to see games there. :techman:

Well if previous reports were accurate, he seems to think he can still get the kind of long-term contract as if he was 30 years old.

the mets reported yesterday that they are out of the mix for manny. he wants three yrs and they are only willing to go two.his dogging it on the red sox has come back to haunt him, i believe.i'm really surprised that we are only a couple of weeks away from spring training and he's still unsigned.

just reported. yanks and andy petite close to a one year deal for 6 million with another potential 6 million in incentives. good deal for both parties. petites best years are behind him but he will make a good number 4 or 5 starter.:techman:

Our long national nightmare is over: Jason Varitek re-signs with the Red Sox, for the much discussed 5 million dollar deal, with a 5 mil team option or 3 mil player option for 2010. He also gets 2 million extra if he starts more than 80 games in 2010...

Now to try and shake a young catcher out of the Rangers, and the Sox are all set.

I still wish the Sox had managed to land a big bat, because their pitching (especially the bullpen) and defense are great, but the offense will probably be lacking a little bit. Other than that, I'm pretty pleased with what they have.

I still can't decide which of the two young Texas catchers would work better with the Sox. Anyone know more about them?
