came across this ad the other day that was in the pages of starlog at the time (hadn't seen it since 1982!)There was a dearth of merchandise for "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", mainly because stores got stuck with unsold ST:TMP merchandise. ST II had a novelization, a Starlog movie magazine, the soundtrack LP, but no action figures and no comic adaptation (until IDW's recent retro mini-series). Corgi mini ships of the Enterprise and Klingon ship were simply rebranded TMP models (as "Vengance of Khan"). The Photonovel was b/w. Khan's "broken" pendant, a Starfleet insignia and a TMP admiral's pin were available in cast metal, plus there were ceramic beer steins featuring either Kirk or Khan. That was essentially it.
Merchandise for a sequel is often estimated from sales of its predessessor. STiD had very little merchandise, too.
