Merch Beyond!

There was a dearth of merchandise for "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", mainly because stores got stuck with unsold ST:TMP merchandise. ST II had a novelization, a Starlog movie magazine, the soundtrack LP, but no action figures and no comic adaptation (until IDW's recent retro mini-series). Corgi mini ships of the Enterprise and Klingon ship were simply rebranded TMP models (as "Vengance of Khan"). The Photonovel was b/w. Khan's "broken" pendant, a Starfleet insignia and a TMP admiral's pin were available in cast metal, plus there were ceramic beer steins featuring either Kirk or Khan. That was essentially it.

Merchandise for a sequel is often estimated from sales of its predessessor. STiD had very little merchandise, too.
came across this ad the other day that was in the pages of starlog at the time (hadn't seen it since 1982!)

I remember desperately wanting one of those Spock jugs!

They'd be so much better than the low detail hunk of plastic that Playmates gave us in 2009.

It is still sitting on my shelf, and is probably the best thing they made from the 2009 film. :techman:

Though I believe EagleMoss did some miniatures from the movie.

Oh, it's on my shelf too, and I agree that it's the best thing they made from the movie. I just happen to look over at my TWOK Refit 1701 from DST and I know that they could do the KT-1701 much better. :)

And yes, Eaglemoss did. I have the Kelvin, the Enterprise, and the Vengeance. Refuse to buy the D4 though. It's not a horrible design, but it's not a Klingon ship I want a model of. Eaglemoss has also said that they received designs for Beyond. They said three, but I bet they couldn't mention the Enterprise-A without getting in trouble with Paramount. I expect the refit Enterprise, then the swarm ship, then the Franklin, and then finally the Enterprise-A. Eventually. They seem to take their time with their specials. The NX-01 refit was the last one they did and they haven't even teased the next one yet.

Anyone else seeing ads here and on Facebook for Captain Kirk's cup from the opening of Beyond?
No, none on here, is it the same quickee version that's completely incorrect I've seen somewhere, or has someone finally made the proper version?

Keepsake USS Franklin coming, and other Hallmark Star Trek updates

Every year since 1991 Hallmark have released at least one Star Trek ornament in their Keepsake range of Christmas decorations, including a model ship every year. At this week's Star Trek Las Vegas convention they announced which ship is coming next, and I'm sure it will be no surprise that 2017 will be bring us the ship of the moment, the USS Franklin. StarTrek.com released this image. While not noted in StarTrek.com report, I expect this model will have light and/or sound features.http://www.thetrekcollective.com/2016/08/keepsake-uss-franklin-coming-and-other.html#more

This is the one. Would need to see the film again to know how authentic it is.

I was thinking of to getting the Blu Ray set just fir the Franklin, but a Blu Ray is useless to me. Only one guy in my family has the player, and he doesn't speak English. Not sure yet.

I love the Playmates version. It's not 'screen accurate', but it does a fair job of showing off the shape/lines/prettiness of the design. I need to get my hands on the Eaglemoss specials, but I'm not in as much of a hurry with the Playmates one on the shelf. And their customer service has been hit and miss so it's a case of "find an ebay seller that isn't taking the piss" :/

He can learn English from Jaylah's house! ;)

I really want to buy this. I'm not sure I can justify the extra ship price right now and I'd rather buy from the UK (postage is ridiculous these days) which - as per usual - doesn't seem to have any extra goodies :/

Yup.. Thats the one. Looks to be the actual prop. I see the communicator in the foreground there..

Diamond Select has said on at least one occasion that they aren't allowed to do the JJ Movie ships as CBS won't give them the rights. This may have changed, but still.
Playmates initially had the rights, but they allowed theirs to expire after a couple of years. Hasbro then had the rights, but only released a line of Kre-O toys based off Into Darkness that hardly anyone bought.
