What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

It's finally happened. The first ever Marvel/Trek crossover movie! It happened in the comics and now the big screen. Money on Patrick Stewart playing both Picard and Xavier in the movie! Meet the new Captain of the Enterprise. Captain Wolverine.

I actually liked "Quantumania". I was more impressed with it than "Ant-Man & the Wasp".
Its not just Thunderbolts* (or New Avengers) that's failing at the box office. The problem is just as Feige and Marvel Studios employees have recently stated (see the quoted X posts a page of two back), and there's no answers, other than to take a step back (which will never happen), and focus on strong storytelling instead of stretched out arcs requiring a MCU class to follow--Feige's exact point. But we know an enormous amount is riding on the back of the coming FF film, serving as an origin story and arc launch pad for the next series of arc-tied movies. If that underperforms, you can imagine how the Disney shareholders will react.

I think Disney, Warner Bros. and other studios need to take a break from the comic-book hero genre. I'm so burned out by it that I can't even muster the desire to watch some of my old favorite movies and TV shows.

Or.

You could stop watching them altogether and focus on something else. It's fine you don't enjoy them anymore, but that shouldn't be the reason why studios should stop making them, especially when there are still plenty of people who still enjoy them.

In other words, your displeasement doesn't get to decide the enjoyment for others.

"The story starts off during the end of the Western Bronze Age, and that spark sets off this giant spy-espionage story that reverberates through time.... You get Wakanda-grade James Bond, and sometimes a Jane Bond, with the backdrop of all the awesomeness that is Wakanda."

[storyboard artist Todd] Harris describes Eyes of Wakanda as "anthology adjacent." It's a collection of short stories set at different time periods that all tell one continuous narrative. It's the equivalent, Harris says, of visiting the British Isles during the time of King Arthur and then returning during the Industrial. "Same country, two different worlds," he explains. "As we make our touchstones through time, we get to see that kind of evolution."

That sounds like a lot of fun! And while I'm not familiar with most of the cast, I'm happy to see Anika Noni Rose (Princess and the Frog) plays a crucial role.

See how easy it is to get somebody that looks comics accurate?
Lord Matalas knows how to bring in the fans!
Perfect casting!
Nah, The original Jocasta looked like this

The half human look was a recent development. Though I think she's back to being fully robotic.

If true, that's great news. I loved T'Nia Miller in Years and Years. I don't know anything about that character but it's a curious inclusion that makes sense considering Ultron's return (in some form).

It is a distinct possibility that we have actually already seen Jocasta in the MCU. In a sense, at least. I direct you to the 21 second mark. Remember that Vision was originally JARVIS.

Because Kang wasn't Kang the way we are used to seeing Kang being Kang and wanted Kang to be proper Kang.

The vast majority of the moviegoing audience had never heard of Kang before. A very popular comic may have on the order of 10,000 readers, while a hit movie may have an audience on the order of 100 million people. The comics audience is basically the square root of the movie audience, so small a fraction as to be statistically irrelevant. The whole reason to adapt something to a new medium is to introduce it to a new audience.

A lot of superhero movies and shows have changed the way readers were "used to seeing" characters and been big hits, because they made the screen versions of those characters effective in their own right, which is really all that matters. But sometimes those changes work and sometimes they don't.

He's acted in a lot of films with a lot of actors
If that's one that comes to mind for you, that's just you

I went looking to see if Douglas and Pfeiffer had worked together before, and I found an article claiming they'd been in eight or nine films together, but fortunately I double-checked on IMDb and found that none of the non-MCU films they listed featured both of them. I guess I got fooled by AI crap. All the more reason to double-check everything before assuming it's true.
