What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

Captain Marvel was a success but the character wasn't liked by most. I think it was a combination of the MCU was riding high and it was close to Endgame. I think that is why we didn't see much of her in other movies, despite talk at the time that she was going to be one of the big faces that sort of replace Stark and Rogers, then the sequel sort of I guess proved her unpopularity when it didn't make much money.
Where else would she have shown up other than in her own sequel? Guardians? Thor?
She showed up in Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel as cameos. Also in a few What Ifs... Then in the Marvels. Which seems to be on par with other characters. I guess someone didn't get the memo.

I think she didn't have a bigger role in Endgame because fans in general didn't like the character.

It was because they did her scenes in Endgame and were literally filming it at the same time her movie was being made, they couldn't do more with her because of how it might interfere with what her movie was doing.

In a break from all of this unnecessary angst, David Tennant revealed at a convention that he had his eye on the role of Reed Richards before Pedro Pascal's casting. Granted, that's not really news but it is curious to imagine what he would've brought to role...and hopefully not as a variation of The Doctor (even Crowley had aspects of The Doctor).

Either way, I find that thought experiment much more engaging than the current conversation.

I think a David Tennant Reed Richards would read (heh) As a cross between Ten and Fourteen.

I really hope Marvel doesn't decide that his role as Kilgrave should keep him from any other larger roles in the franchise.

Thor 4 was better than Thors 1 and 2

The first Thor film was as close as the MCU would ever get to the best of the source material.

I love how fickle and disloyal you are

Disloyal? He's talking about elements from a freaking movie series. There's nothing to be "disloyal" to. Either something works for the individual, or it does not.

What happened to "Thunderbolts"?

Underperforming, like many MCU films of late.

Sadly, it's going to take time to warm up to the "New Avengers", and the Box Office #'s show.

Its not just Thunderbolts* (or New Avengers) that's failing at the box office. The problem is just as Feige and Marvel Studios employees have recently stated (see the quoted X posts a page of two back), and there's no answers, other than to take a step back (which will never happen), and focus on strong storytelling instead of stretched out arcs requiring a MCU class to follow--Feige's exact point. But we know an enormous amount is riding on the back of the coming FF film, serving as an origin story and arc launch pad for the next series of arc-tied movies. If that underperforms, you can imagine how the Disney shareholders will react.

I doubt that, since Reed is a very different character from either of Tennant's Doctors. If Reed has similarities to any Doctor, I'd say it's the super-scientist authority of the Third crossed with the vulnerability of the Fifth and the social awkwardness of the Thirteenth.

Tennant could certainly have pulled it off, but as we saw with Kilgrave, he has enormous range, and would surely have played Reed quite differently from the Doctor.

Some of that is unknown because of course if she was more popular then that would have created alternate timeline were they would write reasons for her to show up more often in the movies they make. I could seen her for example being in the next Thor movie they would do or Guardians since she spends so much time in space and they are in space. Then I wouldn't be surprised if not only would her sequel be made even faster than in this timeline and we might be looking at them talking Captain Marvel part 3 right now. I went back and counted. Tony Stark was in 11 movies. His death played a important part as well in Spiderman 3. I think she was suppose to have that kind of presence in the next phases.

My impression was that she and Black Panther and maybe someone else like maybe Spiderman were likely going to be like the Big 3. But that didn't happen. I mean we know sadly why Black Panther wasn't able to have a expanded role and I think Spiderman is likely limited somewhat by Sony but it seems like they could have found ways to use her lots more and likely would have been if fans were clamoring for more Captain Marvel.

Yes. This is the list

1 Ion Man 1
2 IM 2
3 IM 3
4 Avengers 1
5 Ave 2
6 Ave 3
7 Ave 4
8 Civil War
9 Hulk
10 Spiderman 1
11 Spidey 2

His death has impact heavily on character in Spidey 3, even though he is not in it,

I just realized he was also in several What If's as well.

Cough
This could have been an interesting parallel universe. Make up your own Doctor Who?, No, Doctor Doom, joke:
