Filoni can't let go of his pet characters from the Clone Wars era and Rebels, Feige at least understands how to properly build a universe and move on from one generation to the next.

Frankly, Lucas should have been more like Feige himself.
Yeah, that George Lucas and his pet characters like Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sorry, dude, you're stretching more than Reed Richards on this one.

As for Filoni's so-called pet characters, Ahsoka Tano happens to be the character with the most compelling arc in the entirety of the Star Wars canon. Hers is a story that he's been telling for 15 years and is obviously not done with the telling. George Lucas told his epic story about Anakin Skywalker in this universe over the course of 25 years. Dave Filoni is George Lucas' chosen heir. His Padawan, if you will. Do you have a particular reason why he shouldn't be allowed to finish his own epic about Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars universe?

It is? I don't think so.

What's it about?

The history of the MCU perhaps?

Well a-list is a somewhat subjective term. She was the leader of the Avengers back in the day. She was certainly more relevant to the Avengers than Natasha Romanoff. And she recently had a solo.

"Back in the day" is key here. Sadly, her star's significantly fallen since the 80s. Specifically, since she got removed from the team after Roger Stern's run. Off the top of my head, I don't think she's ever even been a regular of the main Avengers book again since then. (Though she's had roles in spin-off books.) She was more relevant to the team than the Black Widow once, but not in the 21st century.

I'm far from a Filoni hater, but I'll admit to getting tired of almost every live action show having to be built upon the prequels/TCW Cartoon/Rebels.
Uh... what? At most two out of the five (40%) could be described that way.

Lucas saying that the SW series were "The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker" wasn't a good idea either, IMO.

Her story ending with her getting killed by Vader should have been it, it's the best ending for her. But he couldn't let her go.

The Mandalorian should have been a clean break with no prior SW characters showing up. Not Luke or Ahsoka.

The Sequels should have done the same, but the Sequels were always going to be problematic because there was no story left to tell after ROTJ, thanks to Lucas.

Monica isn't "high-profile" enough to have her own solo production, but she's "high-profile" enough to be one of three leads in an upcoming movie? I really don't know how to respond to this. Not because I find it a reasonable answer, but I'm filled with certain emotions that I've decided to keep to myself.

Your response doesn't work for me. If the MCU is willing to allow these non-white characters to have their own solo productions, why was Monica Rambeau the only non-white character from "The Marvels" denied her own solo production before the movie's release? By the way, even Sam Wilson nearly became a supporting character in the previous movie he had shared with Bucky Barnes.

Because they chose certain characters to give solo productions and she wasn't one of them. But a whole bunch of other non-white characters *were*. There is no logical reason why every single lead character in an upcoming movie 'must' have already had prior solo outings. You're inventing a non-sense 'controversy' out of thin air.

Of course it is a rather subjective matter regarding which character "deserves" a solo project, but in the separate issue of the treatment of black characters, actors or other personnel hired for Disney properties, yes, there are legitimate issues regarding race, particularly black people, as in the cases of John Boyega's explosive claims against LFL/Disney for his racially discriminatory mistreatment in his character & global advertising for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, or Anthony Mackie calling out Marvel for its lack of diversity in hiring (especially behind the camera) on non-black themed films. Disney can trumpet how "inclusive" and "progressive" it is, but where race is concerned, the company can--and have been legitimately questioned and/or charged from those on the inside of their biggest properties.

I 100% agree Disney has plenty of issues in a number of ways. I just don't think any of those issues are at all well served by focusing on such an idiotic made-up complaint about one specific character being 'denied' a solo movie/show when literally no one ever expected that character to get a solo and a lot of other non-white characters have gotten and are still getting shows and movies.

That is not an excuse. Both Wanda and Vision were supporting characters.

WandaVision came out six years after Age of Ultron.

So were Clint and Natasha.

Black Widow and Hawkeye came out more than a decade after IM2 and Thor.

Both Peter Parker and T'Challa were supporting characters in "Civil War". Within less than two years, both received their solo movies. So, this argument doesn't hold water with me.

Because Black Panther and Spider-man are premier Marvel characters. Monica isn't. Though she could still get there hypothetically. And if she does it will almost certainly be because of their willingness to use her as a lead in a movie like The Marvels. [sarcasm]But that's so totally racist of them to use her that way without having first given her an extra solo outing completely out of nowhere that no one was actually expecting.[/sarcasm]

It made sense when episodes I-VI were considered the entire saga.

Ahsoka didn't necessarily need to be there, but Luke did. The situation around Grogu was important enough to warrant his involvement. If for no other reason than the fact that he presumably would have received some kind of warning via the Force.

Interesting and encouraging news. It does sound like Marvel's TV process was inefficient at best. They were trying to reinvent something that TV writers and producers had already figured out long ago. It does sound like Secret Invasion in particular was a real mess, explaining why it turned out so badly. Adopting a more planned, writer-driven approach sounds good, and it's good to hear that they're going to do more continuing series instead of one-shot miniseries.

I admit, though, the idea of doing Daredevil as more of a legal procedural did sound interesting, though I wouldn't have liked seeing them put off a costumed appearance until episode 4.

Personally I didn't find secret invasion bad outside of thr rushed ending. The relationship between Talos and Fury was fairly entertaining

Someday someone will write a facinating book about how the MCU went from 'Endgame' to the ramshackle mess it is now.

I think the article makes it fairly clear: The movie division started getting into TV and approached it with the same system they'd used in the movies. Now they've finally figured out that's not how series TV works.
