Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

Read "Civil War 2". You'll understand.
(I say mostly joking since I know you're referring to the MCU specifically... but man, it makes it tough for me to like the character)

I don't dislike Captain Marvel. Like you said, I'm only familiar with the MCU version of the character. As for Iron Man . . . I grew to loathe him. And his death did not erase my dislike of him. But my only knowledge of Captain Marvel is from the movie, so . . . I have no problems with her.

Yeah, that's the kind of question that rarely ever seems to get a real answer. I don't think any of these kind of roles ever really have a set length, so you can't really answer it.

It's already said before that Marvel's not doing any more multi-picture contracts and are now bringing back actors case-by-case, film-by-film. Like I think it was said that Cumberbatch doesn't know if a Doctor Strange 3 will happen, and Watiti and Hemsworth were reportedly surprised by the "Thor will return" stinger at the end of L&T, because no one at Marvel had asked them anything about Thor 5.

I'm mostly familiar with Suicide Squad from the movies. I wasn't thinking power level but more like these guys seem a bit more professional that what we saw there. Are The Thunderbolts as disposable as the Squad members?

The original Thunderbolts weren't. They were a team and some were even friends. Can't speak to later incarnations.

There were several deaths toward the end of the Dark Reign period, but in general death is thing that may happen occasionally, not a thing that's expected to happen all the time like on the Suicide Squad.

But there was a 'Thunderbolts' mini-series during the recent King in Black event which was literally just a Suicide Squad ripoff complete with the dishonest govt. sponsor (Kingpin, at that point Mayor of New York), massive team casualties and even a couple of moments that were literal copies of scenes from the Suicide Squad movies.

I don't know a whole lot about Thunderbolts but i'm kinda disappointed we aren't getting Justin Hammer and the Abomination on the team.

the Marvels
I liked Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel, thus was already looking forward to it.
The description of the footage and tone of it, makes me want to see it even more.

Captain America: New World Order
Learning that Carl Lumbly (Isiah Bradley/Captain America II) is involved increased my interest.

Everything else on the schedule - movie and series wise - I might watch on a rainy day when I can fast forward and binge watch.
Hoping that fans of those characters, series and movie find them fulfilling though.

I feel like the toxic environment and all the hate towards her has got to her.

"Nobody want me to play Captain Marvel. You see all these youtube videos?"

It's funny everyone uses that thing with Don Cheadle, but no one brings up her interviews with Chris Evans, Scarlett or Sam Jackson where she gets on fine with them.

As long as Born Again doesn't have the same "Elektra" or "Bullseye" (assuming either of those characters are even involved in the show), I'd be fine with any of the other supporting cast returning, even though I thought that Foggy and Karen were poorly written on the netflix show post Season 1.
Elodie Yung is the lead on The Cleaning Lady (which is a great show by the way), so she's probably too busy to play Electra again.

How long are its seasons? Today's shorter seasons leave actors room to do more than one series per year, depending on scheduling.

No preview footage but some of the stars of the D23 Marvel presentation

So . . . “THE MARVELS” will be released in the summer of 2023. The movie will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. Of the three stars, Parris is the only one who has NOT starred in her own solo production. Why is that?

Because WandaVision just introduced her and made her a superhero 18 months ago? It's not like she was Black Widow who had to wait 10 years.

Point of order. She was introduced in the first Captain Marvel movie in 2018, set all the way back in 1995. It's true that wandavision gave her powers, but it's not where she was introduced.

And technically she is already a supporting member of the Captain Marvel cast, now promoted to co-headliner.

So what? That doesn't mean Parrish should have been denied her own solo project before doing "THE MARVELS".

So, none of you see anything wrong with Parrish being the only lead in "THE MARVELS" not given a solo project beforehand? I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is typical of pop culture fans . . . and Marvel fans.

Because both Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan have significantly larger pre-existing fanbases than Monica Rambeau as well as a great deal more source material that is entirely their own, rather than just as a member of a team, to work with. And because it has never been mandatory or even necessarily desirable that *every* character gets their own project before appearing in a team-up (a standard that, if followed, would literally make it impossible for Marvel to have any secondary or supporting characters).
